Well, I don't know what happened
I have posted this topic ; but it didn't come up
so here I go again
I have to share this
I am so excited I found it
If 2 of these topics pop up delete one if you want.
I have searched for years for this rose bus and found in
http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/77421/

It grew next to our 4 room cabin in Speedwell Va.
when I grew up ; until I was in the second grade
We still have the cabin and land
but for some reason the rose bush is gone
I remember smelling this rose bush when I was a little girl
every summer.
we called it " Bubbie, Rose"
It also grew in the forest next to us.
I am so glad I found it
Isn't it amazing the smells and things that take you back to your childhood
I hope I can find it here and get hubby to plant a bush or two on our farm.
hugs Sheila------- I am so happy to find it. Lol

Hi, Sheila. Up until a few years ago, we had a huge one of these bushes outside the kitchen window of our farmhouse in Virginia -- they seem pretty common around here, but only around really old houses like ours. They must have been popular in the early 1900s. I did some landscaping and foolishly just got rid of it. The people who lived here before us (still neighbors) called it "spice bush."
