Alee, your menu sure sounds good. Nice comfort food! I actually had a similar menu planned for today. But, my grandson requested a taco lunch so that's what we had. So, we wanted a lighter supper and had eggs, fried potatoes and toast. I did make Blueberry Boy Bait for dessert. Yum! This recipe is a keeper.

I had plans for a spaghetti dinner but the baby has been so fussy that at the last minute I threw a frozen pizza in the oven and hubby is having leftover cabbage soup from last night.

We are having a simple dinner of chicken, rice with broccoli and corn, and some homemade bisquits.

I make the salad and my honey is BBQin. As usual. But today I was inspired by these posts and we are eating by candle light. The girls are LOVIN' it. They set the table "fancy" while we are waiting for Bill to bring in supper.
Ahhhhhhhh
It's not so much what we eat but how it looks when we eat it! ha aha

I made oven fried chicken tenders and oven sweet potatoe fries. Had some of the artisan bread dough left, so I popped that in the oven too. It was good!

We just had an ole country dinner tonight. Turnip greens, field peas, fried corn, pork chops and corn bread. And I grew everything except the field peas and they were from up the road.

Sweet potato fries sound good.

Yummy! We farmgirls sure know how to fix a great meal!

Heide- I love making everyday dinners special by putting out the good china or uncorking a bottle of wine- even for hamburgers!

Kristin, I am jealous that you had those freshe greens. I don't have anything green right now in my garden...still too much snow LOL!!
I had chili for supper. At my church we had a funraising supper and 12 of us gals brought big 'ol pots of chili, rolls and dessert. I am still full!

Well, ya'll will be growing your own food soon. This was actually what I grew last year and froze. Sorry if it sounded like I just went out and picked everything. Nope. Went to the freezer! I am going to have to fill it back up, too. With hubby home for almost 3 months the freezers are getting more room in them. I'll have to can again this summer. Usually canned things last a few years.

I still think homegrown and home preserved food is "fresh" especially when compared to what is at the store!!

Think tonight we are going to have round steak cut into strips and fried up with onions and peppers. I'll make some gravy with the browning's and make some rice. Along with a salad and some MJ sourdough bread. Yummy.

Well, my plan was to have Spicy Roasted Chicken, roast asparagus, mashed potatoes and peaches, BUT, since the power was out from 5 until 7:00, we had turkey sandwiches and wheat thins...yum...
