Hello, I am looking for re-printed feedsacks. The ones with pictures on them of the feed company logo not the floral prints. When I was in highschool (late 1980's) there was a place near us in Pineville Missouri that was reprinting old sacks like the Sweetheart sugar sacks on great cotton fabric. I really want to find re-prints like that for a project with my daughters now and can't find them. I can find things made from them so I know someone out there is still printing them. I can't find them here in Missouri. Does anyone know where to find such sacks for sugar, flour, and bridseed and such? Thanks bunch!! Lucy B in Mo

Glenna at Hollyhock Quilts has both vintage and reproduction feed sack fabrics. She just got a bunch of authentic feedsacks in, and they are WHOLE. Here's a link to her blog entry about the new finds:

Here's her shop:

She is wonderful to order from. No affiliation, just shopped with her recently. I LOVE her Rise And Shine repro fabrics!!! If I could decorate our whole 1880s/1920s farmouse with them, I would!
ETA: Her book, Sugar Sack Quilts, has charming projects and a little bit of feedsack history. One of my favorite quilting books.

Lucy,
I purchase my flour from a local milling company, The flour comes in sacks with their logo and you can purchase the sacks w/out the flour. The varieties of flour include: White Rose (graphics w/a white rose :)), Valley Queen (graphics w/a bunch of wheat).Red Rose (Red rose graphics), and Blue Bird (Blue bird Graphics). They say "Cortez Milling Company".
I'll see if my husband can help me post photos this weekend.

Hi Sharon
I am in Colorado and would love to know which mill you are talking about... I purchase flour from my health store and would love to be able to purchase from a local source. The flour sack sound wonderful and I already have thought of a couple of craft project for them.
Great to see you on MJ and how is your snow this mroning - it is still coming sideways at the farm, I have drifts up to my waist, how about you?

Hi Grace
I live in SW Colorado. We just got about an inch yesterday and it's already pretty much melted. The wind however and that biting chill is another story :)
The mill I buy from is Cortez Milling Company in Cortez, CO. It looks like they are just starting to get a website, here's what I found: http://cortezmilling.com/ so you may want to check back occasionally.
If you can't find any and are interested, let me know:)
I am going to try posting photos. I have to have my husband help :)
I have purchased their flour from Safeway, Albertson's and City Market (or Kroger's/King Soopers) when I haven't made it to the mill.

Hi Sharon
I do not remember ever seeing that brand in the stores around here but we have a rotten selection. I normally shop in Vitamin Cottage or farmers markets. I have heard of that mill but have not seen their products around.
I am dealing with 5 foot drifts in front of the barns and chicken coop but I am hopeful that our sun will assist before the next round. Stay safe and let me know when you find the sacks - sould be interested and I have book marked the site to see if I can get their flour.

Hi Sharon
Received the flour sacks on Monday afternoon and I just love them. I could not stop my head from spinning on several great projects - now I just have to catch up on some custom spinning orders before I get to play with them.
Thanks again for all your work in bring them to us - Hugs from this way happy Colorado gal.
