I kype the best magazines from my Mother and I just got (ok -took) the Feb 09 issue of British Country Living magazine containing an update on their campaign "The Farmer wants a Wife". I had never heard of their campaign. But, apparently the campaign is 10 years old and is responsible for 18 marriages and 11 babies. The article authors Catherine Butler and Kitty Corrigan say, "We wanted to draw attention to the difficulties that lone Farmers can face and brighten their lives with a touch of romance". Wow. I really don't know what to say.... I'm trying to imagine a "Farmgirl wants a Hubby" campaign in MJF but I don't quite see it happening...

I met my husband on FarmersOnly.com. Not quite the same thing. But it worked for me. :)

British Country Living? Sounds like a great magazine. What other kind of stuff's in it?

I love the "Farmer Wants A Wife" issue of British Country Living. Over here it would probably be the "Full-of-Himself Corporate Executive Wants a Wife". haha BCL is one of my favorite magazines. I think an MJF Farmgirl Wants a Husband would be a great idea.

BCL is something like CL in the USA, only more edged to real country life! Like talk about cattle, outdoor life etc. I have seen the campaign too, lol.

There was a show last year here called something like Farmer Wants a Wife. Kinda like the bachelor. I think it was somewhere in the midwest, maybe Kansas, can't remember. Based on the same principles. It was cute. They had the girls chase and catch chickens, run tractors, plow fields. Even had them check to see if cows were pregnant by sticking their arms all the way up the birth canal to feel for a calf! I might have flunked that one. But it was a fun show to watch. I hope the guys are still married. I never heard a thing after the show was over. I like shows like that, but not the bachelor. It's way too racey for me.

Dutchy, you never know, girl! You should check it out.

Stephanie, The mag is beautiful -masthead says "The complete lifestyle magazine: Houses-Gardens-Food-Crafts-Health-Travel-Rural Issues". My Dad buys it for (me to swipe from) my Mom at Barnes and Nobel.

Too FUNNY Karen! "My Dad buys it For (me to swipe) my mom..." Gave me a Good laugh! Such HONESTY is very admirable. Your parents must be SO proud... now, lets talk about the "Swiping" hon. You DO know another name for that nifty little word is "S-T-E-A-L-I-N-G..." (LOL!! Just kiddin')

Hope you swipe some MORE good issues to share-- Hugs ~~ Tracy

Hmmm, have to wonder if it's in reality "farmer wants a live-in farmhand with benefits". Did it cross your mind? It did mine!
