I definitely was not born with a green thumb, my gardens mostly consist of sunflowers, wild flowers, and usually a little sweetcorn, but i really want to grow some of the giant pumpkins you see at fairs. I have the seeds but does anyone have any idea how I should go about it, I've heard you can feed them milk, and i have plenty of cow manure. I've tried to start them inside before but my cats ate them as soon as i got sprouts. When I planted them outside last time i did not even get sprouts. Please help!

Remember Giant Pumpkins need giant room I had one that I did nothing to it weighed about 150 pounds and it took up 1/4 of my garden and was not hard to grow just took lots of water and I would pick off any other blooms as they showed up. Diana
Sarah, I winter sowed my pumpkin seeds outdoors in milk jugs - and they not only came up but so far they're flourishing! I transplanted the first one in the the garden yesterday. (I figure if it croaks from planting so early, I have backups.)
Louise Riotte says in "Carrots Love Tomatoes" that her squash and pumpkins did best when she planted them either early or late - they didn't have the problems with squash bugs and borers.
