Hello to all.
This is Margaret from Ohio. It's good to meet you all and have a place to share thoughts, ideas and just plain chat with people who are looking for the same lifestyle that I am, simple and natural. I live in the middle of Ohio with my husband and my "menagerie", chickens, guinea hens, dogs, and cats. We have almost 4 acres here and my short term goal is to grow enough produce to be able to can some and sell some at the local farmers market. My long term goal is to raise sheep and eventually spin my own wool. I am a mother of 3 grown boys and a grandmother of 3 beautiful granddaughters, which I hope to utilize as farmhands someday! The oldest, she's 2, really loves the chickens and goes to visit them 1st thing when she comes for a visit. The other 2 are still infants but I think they will feel the same way.
I found MaryJanes farms website in a magazine and now I am hooked. I have ordered some food items and I am really into the magazine. What great stories and pictures!
I have gone on long enough here.
Take care everyone and thanks for allowing me to spout off!

Welcome Margaret!! I am so glad you found us...sounds like you have a good start on your farm! My grandpa used to raise Guineas and I have thought about it too..maybe some day! You can do alot on 4 acres...be sure to keep us filled in with what you are up to..we love to hear stuff like that..and we love to see pictures too, if you have a way to post them.
I bet you will like it here..you sure sound like "one of us!"

Welcome Margaret, It sounds like those grandbabies will have their hands full when they get older. You mention MJ's magazine, have you read her book yet? That's what got me hooked. I first found it at the library last summer and now I've gotten it for Christmas. We're looking forward to hearing more from you.

Hey there, welcome Mag!

So glad to have you here. I also have sons, (8) and (6) . I often wonder if I will have grandaughters.....I can't wait until that stage of life.
I heard of MaryJane through the farm chicks web site, and have been hooked ever since!

Blessings,
Theresa

Thanks for the warm welcome, fellow farmgirls. I hope to have more to report as the weather turns warmer. I haven't read MaryJane's book yet but I think I will check out our local library to see if they have a copy. If it is like the magazine, I know I will like it. Thanks again for making me feel welcome.

Welcome Mag!

You are sure to have fun here. There are some spinners that can help you along when you get started on that dream of sheep!

About the book.....if you're like the rest of us....owning is a must!! Checking it out from the library will get you all jittery and you'll just have to go to a bookstore or order online!!

Be sure to check out the threads on the Reading Room...CabinCreek Kentucky (Frannie) has a great one started on the book and magazines....plus a few give aways of her treasures....you gotta check it out!!

Blessings
Catherine
