I have heard that pouring boiling water over weeds you want to kill works. The article said to pour the water low to the ground to keep from a) burning yourself and b) killing another plant you actually wanted. Its been raining here, so I wont be killing anything for a bit, however am going to try it at the first opportunity. I would liek to hear from gals who have tried this, or will try from this posting, please tell me how it works.
We tried getting ants with boiling water. Eh. It's perversely satisfying seeing them floating around (not alive), but didn't completely get rid of them in the two spots we were trying to eradicate (those are in oft-frequented garden spots - we have a few other spots in the yard with underground ant colonies as well, so it's not like we were trying to kill every. single. one.).
Think I half heartedly tried the vinegar thing out on our driveway. Didn't work spectacular. Digging annoying plants out is pretty much all that's been semi-successful for us. Maybe we'll attempt the water every few days at some point again, who knows.
