eggs this morning!!!!!!! I went out to feed and thought I'd look in the nesters and lo and behold, there were 2 of the most beautiful little eggs I ever did see! I could not believe my eyes. I don't know who laid them and I really don't care just as long as someone does. I was just thinking before I went out there that the laying mash wasn't working and that I would not get anymore when this ran out. But I guess it is. I am a very happy farmgirl!

I got another one today! Apparently there is just one laying. But Russell Crowe is a busy boy. I guess this nice spring weather and a bunch of pretty girls got the old boy going again. So I hope they will all start laying soon. It is so nce to go out and get eggs again, even if it is just one. It's like a nice little surprise every time.

Russel Crowe! That's too funny!!! I love rooster names.

We named one of ours "Prince," and then we... ahem... ate him because he was so mean, and when my husband and I talk about him, we refer to him as "The Rooster Formerly Known as Prince."

XOXO, Libbie

Ahh. That is funny. We had a bad roo named Fred. When he attacked our grandaughter he became "Dead Fred". I do not like mean roos. But Russell Crowe is the best roo we have ever had. He's such a good protector, too. He's just 2 years old now. We sold all our hens several months ago and he's been so lonely. So we decided to get some more for him. He's a happy boy now.

This morning while I was feeding them I heard a funny noise in the hen house. I went in to look and I saw him in the nest where I had left an egg. He was clucking and acting weird. I guess because there hasn't been an egg in the nesters in a long time. He finally got out. But I thought that was a bit strange.

Kristin, We want a rooster. Clay wants a pretty boy.. Hope we can find one. I went to see my 7 babies today. They are getting their first feathers. Gail is keeping them with her 4 babies until we can intergrate them to my older girls. I actually got 3 eggs today so all the girls are working hard.. Dh did remove the RhodeIsland Red. So she is history.. My three girls are happy tonight too cuz their studio has been completed with the cedar siding in place. maybe I will get three more eggs tomrrow...but probably only 2. THe Barred rock lays like every onther day. I am tickled pink with this. What kind of breed is your Russell?

Hey Cheryl. He's a BR and the most handsome roo there ever was. Hence the name. You should get a Buff roo. They are beautiful. I ordered 15 Buff chicks and a roo. They are huge. What did you do with the RIR? Sounds pretty drastic there. And the studio sounds so pretty. Do you have pictures? I would love to see it.

Yeah! I went out to get my egg awhile ago and there were 2!! One in one nest and there was another in the nest next to it. Wow! It's looking good here. Maybe next week I'll get 3. Who knows.
