Has anyone done this? I know a year or two ago I read somewhere about this, but I can't find the article right now. Interesting. Anyhow, just looking for anyone's experirence! Thanks! |

yeah we tried it. the trick is to be careful and not to overwater. We got a few potatoes out of it. It was a plant and ignore project, so I can't give to many hints. good luck.

A couple years ago I planted potatoes, on a whim, and my boss suggested as soon as I saw green leaves, cover them with straw, actually I did this to hold them up, as well as getting a bigger crop. It worked very well, sometimes I didn't cover them until there was 5-6" of leaves showing. For planting in a small area, I had a good yield, plus protection for them. May have answered my own question that I posted a number of days ago about planting potatoes. Thanks for the reminder!!
