| looking for help! our evil neighbor took a picture of my husband on our property while carrying a gun....(he had a gun at the time because our neighbor's dogs got together, formed a pack and were trying to kill my cat and came at me, bit dick, etc. and he was chasing them off our property--by the time he was chasing them off, it was unloaded--shot only once--ANYWAY..) she is a professional photographer and faked the photo......put dick on our neighbor's front yard. This NEVER happened!!! how can we prove it is fake? can a professional tell from the photo, or do you have to have the negative? at the time, she yelled out I'm video-taping this. We figured that would prove dick was on our property, however, she decided to turn it into a photo/still shot and at court, is where we saw the fake photo!! we don't want to go to anyone local cause i'm not sure who to trust, it's a small town and the evil witch is sister-in-law to a country councilman who is a crooked attorney! also, i'm sure by now she has gotten rid of the hard drive or any computer evidence. if anyone out there is a police detective and has any advice, please let me know. oh, i'd be willing to pay the person who can prove that it's fake??? would appreciate any help...thanks, sue |

Maybe you can explain some background. what is the court case about? Why is the photo important?
Altered photos are literally impossible to detect if done well. Also chances are it was a digital photo to begin with and no negative exhists.

Sometimes if the photo file is opened in Photoshop the program reads it and will tell you if there are multiple "layers" to the photo. Now I am not a photoshop whiz so I don't know- but I seem to remember there is a way to merge layers so this may or may not help you. If she merged the picture and background then you might be able to prove it.
One thing I would suggest is look at shadows. Is your husband's shawdow in the picture? If it is, then does it fall in the same angle as the other objects that are known to be in her lawn. Say if her lawn shadows are lying towards the north, but your husband's lies towards the south you would have easy evidence that the photo is faked.

| they are charging him with pointing and presenting a firearm. he can have a firearm on our property in south carolina, also there is no problem that he shot one of the dogs---he shot it with birdshot so not to kill it, but believe me when i say they were in a feeding frenzy with my cat and came at me and i absolutely believe there was no choice--. while dick was chasing the dogs away, they would regroup and then come back and he used the shotgun at that point as a club and kept chasing them to run off our property. the front of our property is wooded and when he got down toward the road, in a clearing, that's when he saw all these people; there was a kids birthday party going on. he yelled for them to keep their dogs off our property. here is the "clincher".....i know you would want to know why these three families would team up against us..... picture the letter "H"...the left side up and down is Road A;...the right side, up and down, is Road B. okay, now, half of the little connecting line (horizontal line) is our road, and then it dead ends. from Road B, you can make a left onto another private road, but the two don't meet. anyway, the person who bought at the end of the other side (private road) wanted to cut through onto our private dead end road. our neighborhood has a deed restriction saying that can't happen. the two neighbors at the very end of our private road decided they wanted to let this guy cut through but the whole rest of the neighborhood said no. we sided with the rest of the neighborhood as i believe that if it states that in writing on the deed, that's how it should be. anyway, they are out to get anyone who gets in their way, hence, the three of them got together and will lie for each other. i know that this sounds really far-fetched, but i swear it is the truth. the whole thing is a nightmare. oh, they called the police on our neighbor, too and said he was shooting at their children at a different time. (this also involved one of their many dogs that had been going after his wife) unfortunately these people have money and a brother-in-law who is a councilman. we have been hearing more and more stories about how crooked they are. personally i think the wife is mentally sick. i also happen to think that she is sleeping with the guy who wants to cut through onto our road. anyway, that's it. as she is a professional, i suppose, then that there might not be a negative.?? i was just hoping that someone might come up with an idea?? thanks |

Unless she is a master graphic designer/photo manipulator, it should be possible to tell that it's a fake. It takes a fairly complicated series of masks to move a person from one image to another, and to a trained eye, there will be problems with depth of field, shadows/light sources, etc. Like I said, unless she's serious pro graphics person or a forensic tech specialist, it should be possible to tell. At the same time, though, she could have paid someone good to do it.
Photoshop does use layers, but unless it was saved as a PSD file (which would be a dead giveaway) you won't see them. :(
If you can prove she faked it, perjury carries a BIG penalty............

| thank you...i appreciate the input! this woman is a professional photographer, who, in her ad says that she specializes in fixing/restoring old photographs. during this episode, she called out (rather gleefully!) i'm video-taping this. we didn't care as dick never left our front yard. when we saw these couple of "still shots" with dick across the street, we were shocked to say the least. we have called our lawyer and requested the pictures. our lawyer took them to the head of the detectives and he and some other detectives looked at them and agreed that they look fake. they told us that the case is dismissed, however, when we went to go get our bail money, we were told that the brother-in-law (councilman) insisted that the case not be dismissed because his sister-in-law is out for blood. the whole thing sounds crooked....but it is hard to fight "city hall". that is why we are looking for an "expert" to hopefully PROVE that the pictures are fake. i truly believe that if we don't stop this woman, she will just continue on with her lying and sick sense of joy of putting some other unfortunate person in jail. we are fortunate to have some money and brains in order to fight this woman, but for someone a little less knowledgeable/educated or without money to hire an attorney, i think that poor person would be in jail. again, thanks for any input!! sue |

why would a neighbor do that to another neighbor? Did you guys do something to provoke her and this is payback time? I'd hardly call a man with a gun trying to protect his family and property from a pack of dogs a crime. If you can show animal bites, a picture of the pack of dogs or any damage, I'd call her bluff and say see ya in court....any time she has appeared in court with "pictures" from something else like this the outcome information would be public domain...see if she's done this before.
What ever happened to Love Thy Neighbor? geeeeeez!

People are crazy. There doesn't have to be any reason or logic to it, some people will just do anything to have the world ordered the way they want it. Trust me, I've had neighbors like this and had to deal with the same kind of corruption. Fortunately, I didn't own a home and it was easy to move away.
Good luck with the court case! Did you file a police report at the time of the incident, so your side of the story is on record at the time it happened? I hate to say it, but you may need to escalate the case in some way to carry it out of your own local area and give it a fair hearing. |

You might be able to point out to the judge that she is a "professional", photographer and restores photo's ect- then ask for the actual 'footage', not still's from what she video shot. Might help-(have no idea on the fixing though, sorry)

Talk about crazy...a friend of ours had a fender bender with a woman during an ice storm a few weeks ago. Since there was so many accidents that day and theirs was minor the cops told them to exchange information and take care of it after the storm passed. Four days later the woman had a stroke and now they want to charge our friend with vehicular manslaughter if she dies!!!Our friend left a message on our machine last night that he was selling all his tools to be able to afford a better lawyer....I am just shaking my head on this one!

| like i said: the only thing we ever did to "provoke" her is when she wanted to let her friend from the neighborhood behind ours cut a drive way through the end of our cul-de-sac....and on our actual deeds to our land it states no one else is allowed to use our street, and the other 10 neighbors said they did not want that, well, we sided with the 10 neighbors.....i made the decision that if it was in writing on our deeds i should/would agree with the neighbors who abided by the law that was written and that they purchased the lot knowing this. this infuriated this woman from then on and like i said she has called the police and complained and tried to arrest on false charges other people too. BUT her brother-in-law is a crooked attorney and county councilman with a lot of clout and i think they are a little afraid of him and don't know what to do down there at the court house. as i said before, the head of detectives came out and was apologetic and said the case is dismissed, then when we went to get our bail $ back, we were told by our attorney that the councilman had it reinstated, they are out for blood, but he thinks it's just going to eventually "die". in the mean time, they have 3 years to re-conveen a grand jury to have it brought to trial.....what kind of life is that with a felony hanging over your head? oh, and by the way, our next door neighbor--the nice guy who lives between us and the witch, came over....evidently the witch's son is shooting bow/arrows at our home....he found one stuck in his tree up about 40 feet, aimed at our house!! like i said, SICK PEOPLE!! |

| Try going to the State Police and ask for help. If you can't get help from the city or county law go over their heads. Unless they are part of the family also. Or call in the news reporters from the biggest city you are close to. |

Sue- I would ask the police if the whole bow and arrow incident is enough to get a restraining order against them because their continual battery is disterbing your life. I would also talk to your attorney about petitioning your court for a reasonable court date or for the matter to be dismissed "WITH PREJUDICE" meaning they can NEVER refile the same case! You have the RIGHT to due process of law which means you shouldn't have to wait until the statute of limitations on the case expires to have your day in court. If you aren't going through an attorney yet, it might be a good idea to talk to a few to see how much they would charge to file to get the case Dismissed with Prejudice.
Remember even though sometimes it feels like this isn't truth anymore- you are INNOCENT until proven guilty. There are lots of things that you can do to reverse this back on her that you would probably need an attorney to help you with like Filing a false police report, perjury (If she ever submitted things to the court that were false like the photos)
If I were in your shoes I would fight tooth and nail to make them get the worst punishment as possible because it isn't like your husband was charged with a misdemenor. A Felony can really impact your life after!
