Boy spring better come pretty soon. I was cleaning out my baking area today, because I was baking, and decided it would be a good idea if I had more jars for storage. you know instead of the boxes and ziplock bags. So I had to go to the grocery, so while out I bought four new jars with pretty red lids for the baking stuff. But now I'm pretty sure I need more for other stuff. So that will be something I can look for at the thrift. I posted a few pictures. Not to worry, these obsessions I get tend to calm down after a few days.

Not so long ago mine was BREAD BOXES.....I am so glad I got over that after the 7th bread box I bought

My latest obsession are those darling little cameo perfume compacts by Estee Lauder

Your right Nancy...this too shall pass.

I'm a big fan of large jars for storage. DH made me a shelf from three pieces of scrap lumber that sits on the counter and allows a second tier of smaller jars.

I use wide mouth canning jars for storage of small bulk package goods, batches of leftover soup, and individual servings of jello. The half pint jelly jars are good for baked cup custards. There are plastic lids available for both sizes of canning jars.

I have used glass jars for a long time. I like the way everything looks in them.
The shelves in the pantry seem decorated just by having things in the jars.
You can find lots of kinds of jars at the thrift too. I have found some with Hersheys written across that I use for storing choc. chips.
Not that they stay in there very long. ;)

Things look so great in glass jars! I love them too! Do you ever find the glass jars with red lids that held Folger's coffee from the bicentennial? They have a flag, an eagle and 1776/1976 on the front. And the neat wooden display case thing with the glass front on your counter....well,...that's just too cool!

I have a jar obsession too. I love the big jars they used to package pickles back in the 60s, and little apothecary bottles with corks in them. I now have a shelf full of empty glassware... maybe I should put more effort into filling them. ;)

LOL..Nancy Jo obsessions are what make our lives interesting. You know, I was going to change my kitchen "theme" in the new house but as I was going through the things in the kitchen, I found that I have so much of the same things (Piggies in this case)that if I changed it, my poor little piggies would be sorely displaced.:)

Hellman's mayonnaise jar lids fit perfectly on regular canning jars. I bought a jar made with olive oil (it is very good) just to get the green plastic top. I have a real problem with green thing. I love the color green. I have a glass front little cupboard crammed with green dishes, plant pots, anything at all that is green I filled lots of jars with buttons, but I need more for my kitchen. This means I need to go down cellar and see what I have. I suspect there are things I could use from our old house out in the barn, in boxes. By the time we got to the kitchen stuff my careful labeling had generated to :big box of kitchen crap, More Crap, etc.

It is always such fun to see your finds, Nancy Jo. I always love peeking in other people's kitchens, houses, etc. This forum is just chock full of so many wonderful women. This is a place I have really grown to love. Now all I want is spring..

I love your jars with the red lids NancyJo and I'm also so glad I'm not the only one with a jar obsession! I also seem to go in spurts on my obsessions and have a whole cabinet filled with cute little "recycled" jars waiting to be filled! My latest obsession is fabric (because I've started this sewing stage in my life!) and cutting boards! I love wood cutting boards...sadly I'm going to have to steer to a new thrift store collection as I'm getting quite a few of these too!!! lol Spring is just around the corner (I'm almost positive) so maybe I'll start my watering can obsession up again!!!

Great minds think alike! I love your jars....tried to comment on your blog and now it wants my password which I don't remember because my browser automagically remembers mine on my blog....duh...anyway...I have been checking up on you!
I went to that moving sale last week and bought jars galore! Big clear ones for .25 each with lids. They're like giant pickle jars or something but HAD to have them! I will find a use for sure especially since I ordered all that organic flour from MJ!
Your countertop looks so nice....how come mine doesn't look like that???Hmmmmm.....need to to some decorating there! I got batteries yesterday for the camera so I should have more thrist stuff out there on my blog later today. I've been drywalling/mudding/sanding and FINALLY got it primed and ready to paint and the drywall dust all vacuumed up....what a mess that was!
Love your recipe book too...How Cute is that!?!?!?!? You are so talented! That would be a cute thing to make for the kids for Christmas with their favorite recipes from their "youth" that I used to make them. Thanks for the idea...an nice inexpensive Christmas present! Can I send the book to you to decorate? LOL!!!
Thanks for sharing!
