Our otherwise healthy up until now kitty who probably about four or five years old( he is a stray)just got diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. When we took him to the vet he was in pulmonary edema and had to have injected Lasix for a few days. We have him home and he is on Lasix and enalapril. Does anyone have any experience with this?? Any suggestions for a natural helps or food that might help him. He is an angel of a cat and I would like to keep him for a while longer.
Hi Victoria, I only know that it took my first husband instantly (don't know how it effects pets) but found this site that may be of help for you. Wish you luck. http://www.2ndchance.info/cardiomyopathy-cat.htm
Dear Gail, Thank you for the link. As a nurse for 30 yrs I have cared for many humans wih heart failure and cardiomyopathy.I'm sorry to hear about your husband. As in this link it was a total surprise to us when a very healthy looking kitty could not breathe well and was coughing and grunting. I hope he is responsive to the medication; he is a little more energetic today and we are seeing some of his cute personality back.
