Dear Rae (old spirit),
I got your letter today what a great pick me upper! I'm so tired today and my joints are killing me, must be a weather change on the way.
So far today has been beautiful, the sun is shining the wind isn't so strong. I even got the golf cart out and drove it up to the cafe and picked up another friend on the way. She said I have to go comb my hair, I started laughing like a loon. A block in the golf cart and who could tell if you even saw a comb today. My one big chuckle of the day.

I meant to tell you girls sometime ago about this! Very funny...and sweet!!! One evening, I was writing to one of you and my husband noticed it and asked what I was doing. I told him about the whole thing. He was quiet for a little bit and then said, "I want to be your penpal too!" So the next day, I wrote him a note and mailed it to his work. I few days later I got a note in the mail at my work. I am now penpals with my husband, too! I love it, though, another way to connect with him! And in a spontaneous way!

Robin,
That sure makes a girl stop and think about what we take for granted. And such a sweet thing to do. Even after all the years (43) I think I can start writing to my farmboy, but I'll just put his notes out in his shop, we're both retired now.
This morning I did one of my favorite things to do and that was a cook out breakfast. In stead of a campfire I use our gas grill. And I have that on the deck. I fixed bacon and eggs with toast, nothing fancy but it sure tasted good.

Robin, I love it! I am inspired to do the same. My husband and I had a long distance courtship for 3 years and we have kept each others letters now for almost 20 years. I'd love to add to my collection...I know he'd write me back! ;-)

Connie, I know what you mean about taking things for granted. I have actually felt a bit guilty about the added time I now spend on line. Surprising my sweetie with a letter will assure him he is still the most important person to me!

Oleta,
I received your stationary and card package today. So happy to get the cards as I had run out of the blank ones that I like to write in and green is my favorite color in stationary. Thank you so much.

Connie, I received your letter and think we may have had one cross in the mail. I have just read your posts here too and can visualize the golf cart... you wild and crazy lady. I love it. Will write another in a few days. Trying to work in the garden. Trying to make "railroad ties" out of colored stucco. I'm tired of buying wood every couple of years.

Just out of curiosity... I'm sure the answer is on this website somewhere... but can someone tell me how to get a number after my name and why do I want to be numbered? I suspect there's a benefit :) I'm sorry to ask such a blatant question but I'm clueless on that need. Thanks

Edwina,
The number is the farmgirl number. When you buy a membership you get that. Lots of gals put it in their signature. That is the significance of the red hexagon also.
I let mine run out so I no longer have either of those.

I got home from the museum to find both letters in my chair, DH went to postoffice today. So I got me a bowl of the chicken gumbo I made yesterday and sit down to read the mail. Lordy, I so enjoy getting something besides bills or advertisments in the mail. So glad I found this site to join up with all of you new and wonderful friends.

Not to worry Amy! I have been in the garden more each day and my house work is falling behind! Nothing like hearing my daughter wail from the top of the stairs 10 minutes before she has to leave for school "I have nothing to wear!, Didn't you do any laundry?" (She forgot that I passed that chore on to her last week!)

Ouch. My daughter wears uniforms and I left her shirts in the washer last night. So she had to wear the one she wore yesterday. It wasn't dirty. I think it was a laundry oops day.

Life here is very stressful. So I have just gotten backwards.
