If you have a Wholefoods in your area, they have a bulk herb section and you can buy dried lavender there, in whatever amount you want. If you're ever looking for it in larger amounts MountainRoseHerbs.com has organic -- if you don't need organic try San Francisco Herb Company at sfherb.com

For now, I get my botanicals at Majestic Mountain Sage 1-gal bucket for 9.50 plus shipping. www.thesage.com

I planted 15- lavender plants this past spring and hopefully if they survive this winter I will be able to harvest my own lavender like I did last year. Nothing....nothing is as fragrant as your own home grown lavender

what about growing lavender? Those of you who grow it...is it a hard thing to maintain? Does it require special conditions? I plan on looking into it later but wanted to get some first hand info from you girls...I'd love to grow lavender for myself!!!

Check the greenhouses down there and see what they say. From my experience, it likes a drier climate and poor soil overall. The nicer I am to it (watering and feeding) the more it fails. When I ignore it, it thrives. lol I'm growing English lavender as it's more hardy, but you may get away with French or Spanish. Here's a forum for your area.

oh thank you thank you Bonne! I'll go check out the links...I think I'll do a great job growing lavender if it thrives on less care : )

If there are gals on here that sell dried herbs like lavender, calendula, chamomile, and comfrey - I'm much rather buy from a Farmgirl. I use these in my soaps and also to infuse oils. I need calendula right now. I'm almost out.
