I was lucky to get a back issue of Hobby Farm Home, Fall 2008. Lots of good stuff. I showed one page on my site, and an embroidery I'm working on. But now I want to do rug hooking and Punch needle. Any advise would be welcomed from all you smart and clever needle people.I will have to show you guys a few more pages from this magazine in a day or so. This keeps me going until the NEW MARY JANE magazine comes out.

I think I have that Hobby Farm Home edition here somewhere. I'll have to dig it back out. One of my girl scouts does punch needle. It looks so neat when it's done. I wonder if I want to get into another craft.... could be dangerous. Perhaps it's something my 7 yo could do? She asked me for a craft she could do that her big sister didn't know how to do!

I have heard that it isn't that hard. I just need to find the right material.

Deb, the latch hook rug and or picture would be a real easy way for your daughter to complete a fun project. They sell precut yarn but she can cut any yarn to size. i don't know a thing about punch needle but I bet that would work too.

I've seen the punch needle kits at Joanne's - but never thought twice about the fabric. Hmmm, next time I'm there I'm going to look at a kit for dd.

I have seen the latch hook rug kits at the resale shop. Maybe I'll pick one up next time I'm there.

I do rug hooking Nancy Jo but I don't use yarn, I use wool that I get from old clothing and I usually use Monk's cloth which you can get at Fabric stores. I have a rug cutter that cuts the strips for me about 3 at a time. I think you can use yarn but I have not tried that. I've also done punch needle with DMC floss and a punch needle tool.

Hi Sam,
I would like to see a picture of one of your rugs. Wool would be the best thing to use. I have a punch needle, didn't even know I had one until I looked in my craft stuff. So I have to figure out how to thread it and then I will see if I can get it to work. I have lots of floss.

Nancy be really carefull when you start with punch needle
it can be dangerous if you aren't use to it
It is fun however.
I would buy a cheap kit first to see if I really liked it.
I thought I would like the craft.
I didn't like it as much as hand embroidery however. hugs sheila
