ok, so I was killing time while catching up on laundry...playing on my computer when I found this great idea for re-purposed Mittens.
Check out the Bamboo Fabric website...under their "project gallery" section. They have other ideas as well. I just thought this was a fun quick & usable idea.
I posted a comment about adding a layer of Thinsulate tween the fabrics for added warmth.
This is a great idea for making a pair of mittens from an old sweater....I am going to give it a try just for kicks-n-giggles!

Just think, rather then tossing your little kiddos well worn sweaters out you can re-purpose their sweaters into a pair of mittens....I can hardly wait to give it a try....

Hey Grace,

The bamboo fabric is divine and so is the yarn..I'm so used to seeing mittens repurposed from wool sweaters that when I saw theirs it kind of look strange..LOL It's cute though but I like the felted or slightly felted look with the mittens.

Thank goodness everyone around here donates their wool sweaters to the thrift store. I've never had such good luck finding them and Wednesdays are half price so that makes it even better. I keep going back for more with the insane mentality that I may not find them this easy when I move to the mountains...LOL....any reasoning to settle my mind while wondering where the heck I'm gonna put them....don't sweat the details is what I say just get all the wool you can!

Hugs, Stephanie

Mostly all my kiddos' mittens and hats are made of felted wool sweaters, lined with polar fleece. They're soooooo warm and the best thing we've found about them is that even when damp they're still warm, so. . .second recess doesn't find them with freezing hands!
