This seems strange, but I've noticed for some time that I've lost some of my sense of taste (ok....the obvious joke....'you've never had any anyway'....out of the way ;). It's true, I can't taste any sweets anymore. Yesterday, I had a milkshake and only felt the creaminess and smoothness of the shake, but didn't really taste it. This morning I had blueberry pancakes with syrup and didn't really taste that either. I can taste salt and savory foods fine and maybe chocolate a little, but that's about it. I've never really been a sweet eater and prefer salt, so I guess that's good. When I brush my teeth, I always brush my tongue and have done that for years. Maybe I've worn away some of the taste buds? Has anyone had this problem?

How is your sense of smell? I find if my sinuses are acting up my taste buds don't seem to work as well. I think your taste buds do wear out but the brushing doesn't do it.

Have your dentist check any silver fillings for leakage. Sometimes when fillings are going bad they mask your sense of taste or you can have a metal taste too.

Wow....I never thought of that about the fillings. I'll have to ask my dentist. As far as my sense of smell, I've never noticed any difference or loss. Hmmmm.....

Judy- I would make an appointment with your doctor immediately. It could be nothing but I have heard where people are smelling weird things or losing their sense of taste it can be something like Silent Seizures or other scary things. Or it could be as simple as a vitamin or hormone imbalance.

I hope it is nothing serious, but please have it checked out! *hugs*

Alee, I have a dental appointment Monday. I'll make sure to ask for their opinion and any referrals.
