I have not done any sewing for people (aka me) in many many years and never altered anything. I am losing weight and some of my clothes no longer fit me. Is it possible to alter a sleeveless knit top under the sleeves? how would you do it? the shoulders is fine but the underarm part sticks out really bad ... I also have some short sleeve tops where the shoulders do not fit any more (falls off ) and that makes everything else go wonkers...would just sewing up on the shoulder be ok? and if so, how would you do it? would I need to take it apart and try it that way? both of these items were brand new and never worn and I would really like to wear them if at all possible. any ideas would be great! thanks janiee farmgirl #390
Janie, For the sleeveless top you could try turning it inside out and then you could see and mark how much needs taken in! I would first do it in a basting stitch in case it needs adjusted! Remember to taper in your seam from a few inches down so that it is smooth coming in from the other seam!
For the short-sleeved shirts, are they knit or woven material? T-shirty or more of a buttoned up type or tailored? I have a couple of suggestions but need to know which type first. Jami in WA
