We need a storage shed/barn. It doesn't need to be huge only big enough to store garden tools, Like maybe 8 X 10 to store lawnmower, rototiller, chicken feed & maybe 4 bales of straw? I would like to have an area to use for potting plants.. Any ideas of how much it will cost for me to build this for economically? Is $1000 unreasonable?

Cheryl - if you guys do it yourself you should be able to do it for well under $1000 (this according to my DH who is a carpenter). You could always try to find repurposed material too, of course sometimes the time involved in doing that is more costly than the actual cost but if you have a source handy... Amy Grace

Cheryl it's funny you posted this because I was just now digging out an old "The Family Handyman" magazine I bought on impulse at the hardware store because the build-it-yourself shed on the cover was so gorgeous. It's only a 5 x 12 but supposedly you can make it for under $800. I can scan it and email it to you if you like, though you may be able to find something similar online.

Just wanted to add that there maybe places in your area to find old buildings. I know where I live there are many, and usually the owners will let you tear them down for the wood. There is quite a bit of good wood in these buildings, they were not used and just allowed to fall over.
