Hey Kelly, The best thing about MJF & SOTF is you can belong to both & have double the fun! Wahooo! Check this out: Fredricksburg Trade Days Come to historical Fredericksburg, Texas for Trade Days for lots of shopping and much more the weekend of March 20-22. The cost to park and use electricity (limited availability), water, showers, etc. is only $25.00 per trailer for the entire weekend. Those that have generators or dry camp are free! You are welcome to come up Thursday (3/19) if you'd like. We will be parked in the very front of the property so that we all can be together. The owner of Trade Days is a good friend of Pam Sinclair (Sister 730) and has graciously invited us to fly fish on her 40 acres along the river too---just 3 miles from Trade Days! More details... March 20 - 22, 2009 Fredricksburg, TX Pam Sinclair #730 psinclair1957@yahoo.com You can email Pam and ask her if you can meet up with her & some of the gals for the afternoon, in Fredricksburg to see if you want to join. She can tell you all about the TX SOTF groups. Hope this helps. >^..^<

I have been dreaming about this for a long time. I love to travel and camp and want to get into this with both feet. I can't back up a trailer so will be looking for a truck camper to put in the bed of my pickup.

Hey grace...thanks, I will email her today!!!! Diana.....I know what you mean about backing up....yesterday we were gutting my trailer and throwing the scraps on our little 4 wheeler trailer, when it was full, I jumped on the 4 wheeler with 3YO Emily behind me and 2 YO Sadler in front of me, and immediately drove myself into a corner and had to figure out how to "BACK" out...well....it ended up being about a 10 point turn around...lol....and after I finally got the 4 wheeler and trailer turned around, my hubby called out....if you have that much trouble backing that little trailer...you better start practicing NOW with your travel trailer! Aren't Hubbys Great?...lol...So...I'll have to practice quite a bit before I actually hit the road on a trip!! But I'm so glad that you support the idea!!! Dawn...You are so SWEET.....thank you...as a matter of fact, I'm on mapquest right now seeing how far it is from here to there for your SF....will let ya know....If I were there, I sure would help you do anything you needed me to...I know it's alot of work...reminds me of the Southwestern last year! kelley |

Ok Dawn........ 1065 miles to you from here.... Gas? No way to be sure, but at todays gas price... Aprox $200.00... I addded an extra $40 to it to get $200....But like I said, by May...who knows what gas prices will be like...anyhow....I'll keep thinking!! It really depends more on what state me trailer is in....she is totally bare right now, we gutted her this weekend...now have to start fresh!! Urgggg...I'm so impatient...lol..but would just love to be able to make it!!! I'll keep you posted!! Also depends on what is gong on around here with a farmgirl chapter and FarmGirls on the Loose!! Hopefully I can start to drum up some interest in the near future!! |

Kelley, I am always thinking of moving back! Most of my family still leaves there! Lived in all over Texas - except the panhandle! You sure stirred up some excitement with your post! I got a lead on an old trailer...let's see what happens. |

Dawn just told me about this thread. I'm too much of wimp to go traipsing around the countryside these days but I'll be with you in spirit. This is a GREAT idea, Kelley!
Jinia, I was in Fenton yesterday.

hey Kelley -- just had to give my shout out and hurray for your farm girls on the loose idea. Your enthusiasm and generous spirit absolutely leaps of the computer monitor. You go girl! We'll all hang loose with you -- I'm a reluctant tent pitcher now searching for a little camper too (can you paint them on the outside?) Wouldn't it be great to deliver clothes and even farm girl quilts to women's shelters along the way. Like the idea of canned food drive too -- just have to resist the temptation to eat the good stuff on the way! The first honorary trip - or convergence of farm girls on the loose could be at the Mary Jane's Farm 4th of July event at a campground in Idaho. Kelley, you just get that trailer all fixed up and lead the way up north to us western farm girls! Forget about backing up -- my method is to just keep going forward :) |

Hey Sher, yeah, just goiung forward is my plan, too!!!! thanks for the compliments, you are sweet. I really want to come to BBB in July, but we'll have to see how things work out....we are also supposed to take vacation to Wyoming in August, so now, the two may be too close together!! But, ike I said, i'm gonna try! I can't wait to paint mine! I want to leave the top shiny aluminum, but paint the bottom half red to match my Yukon!~ She is just sitting out there right now, all alone, tottally gutted, waiting to be redone, but she is still soooo cute!!! I'm so glad to see another farmgirl that likes this idea!! I say go for it!! when it come to painting the outside, if she's yours, you should REALLY make her yours!!!! Talk to ya later, Kelley |
