I thought it might be fun to share favorite recipes for Super Bowl Parties. What kind of snacks, food, do you prepare?

I will definitely make my favorite chicken wing recipe! Oh my mouth waters just thinking about it now...

Marinate chicken wings in 2 parts soy sauce, 2 parts cooking sherry, and one and a half part water. To that add powdered ginger and powdered garlic, lots! Spread on baking sheet (I usually also use parchment paper, the wings never stick) and cook at a whopping 500 degrees. Turn them once during total cooking time, which I think is about 30 minutes. The wings should get really crisp and pretty browned at the edges - they taste amazing that way. But, beware... I don't think I've ever made this recipe without the smoke detector going off :)

I hope some of you farmgirls try this one, you'll be happy you did!

I am glad that super bowl comes on right at supper time. We don't snack much. We'll have supper at regular time. Since it is on the 1st, that is our beans and cornbread day. Might dress it up a little and add some fried potatoes or cole slaw.

We love potato skins at our house. When New years or superbowl is coming up I start microwaving my potatoes, cutting in half and scooping out the insides to make mashed potatoes with our meals. I save the skins in ziplocks in the freezer. Then when the day arrives I take em out sprinkle with a little garlic powder, cheddar cheese and some chopped up bacon. Bake em until the cheese is melted and then serve with chive sour cream.

Stuffed Jalepenos:

Fresh jalepenos...medium to large size
Cream cheese(1 box will do about 10-12 whole jalepenos or twice as many halves)
1/2 package ranch style dressing
bacon bits
grated sharp chedder cheese
chipotle chili powder seasoning
bacon

wash jalepenos...to leave the jalepeno whole just slice down one long side from top to tip...take a spoon and clean out the seeds and scrape it down the white vein. rinse and let dry.

Mix the other ingredients(except bacon). stuff the jalepenos. wrap with bacon. cook at 425 degrees until bacon is browned. sometimes I have to turn on the broiler for a minute or so. you can also grill these.

Crockpot Pulled Pork

Pork butt roast..whatever size you need for your family/gathering. I usually buy about a 4-5 pound pork butt roast.

Night before: rub roast down with mustard(you can use yellow or dijon). Take 2-3 Tablespoons of brown sugar and rub over roast. Then using your favorite pork rub mixed with a liberal amount of coarse ground black pepper rub this over roast. Cover and let marinate all night.

Next morning...put in crockpot...take a can of root beer. pour over roast(I usually use about 3/4 can). add:
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 capful of liquid smoke
several squirts of your favoriet BBQ sauce. (we have one down here called Sweet Baby Rays Honey Chipotle that is to die for).
Cover and let cook on Low for at least 8 hours or until it is tender enough to shred. Pour off liquid...put back in crockpot and shred. Pour rest of BBQ sauce over and let cook on low for about 30 more minutes. We also love to make BBQ baked potatoes out of these. yumm!!

Darlene, the Sweet Baby Rays Honey Chipotle BBQ sounds wonderful. Where do you buy it? Is it made locally? My sister lives in Spring, just north of Houston. If she can get it there, she can bring me some next time she comes to KS.

Just Googled Sweet Baby Ray's. Sounds like they are nation wide. I'll look for it.

I buy mine at a grocery store called Brookshires. Walmart here also has it but does not carry the honey chipotle. if your sister can't find it just email me.

Well, when I lived in WNY, I bought wings, pizza and a party sub every year. After moving out here, I've had to learn to make my own wings (wings out here are awful), my own pizza (just 'cause it's better than franchise pizza) and individual subs because no one (that I know of) makes a giant party sub out here.

I'm not having a party this year as I don't have tv reception. I'll be going out and letting someone else do all the prep!
