My office is still about half storage room. It's a work in progress. But here is one wall. The Quilt is from my great-great Aunt Nora. It is coming up on 100 years old by out best guess!

Alee it looks beautiful! I bet this room really makes you feel cheerful. Especially with all of that cold you have been having up there. I would be suffering from SADD if I had to deal with that much cold.

Hi Christina- actually it has been 55 or above each day the past week My yard is a mess of mud and my sidewalks are steaming with the moisture from melting ice/snow. But my office has two HUGE windows which is really nice so I get lots of light. The smaller is a southern window and the largest is an eastern window. So even though I have window covering, the refracted light is nice!

WOW Alee that is warmer than it has been here in Nebraska! I am so jealous. I did run errands today though with only a tee-shirt & sweatshirt on so hopefully that warm air will start pushing in down here soon.

Thanks ladies! I love the quilt too! My Great Aunt left it to me because she said the color (red) reminded her of my cheerful personality (her words, not mine! LOL!) She was a sweet, wonderful, and strict woman who came through the depression and lived a wonderful life. Looking at this quilt really makes me think that she would have been awesome MaryJane's farmgirl and one of the reasons I like to do embroidery and such is to be more like her!

Alee, You are so lucky girl to have a quilt like that handed down to you!! My mother and grandma didn't really quilt much, just to busy being "working moms" I guess. But I vowed to teach myself quilting and to be able to make some works of art for my own little family!! Another first for 2009!! I to have a work in progress?!?!? Don't know what possessed me to have my own Studly Cowboy build me a picnic table for my new kitchen table, and you will never guess what color I'm painting it?!!?!?! Prairie Blue!! I've never been a blue fan, but lately I can't get enough of it in my house!! Hopefully I'll get some pictures posted for you to see and comment!! Would love to hear some other fun projects and uplifts you farmgirls are doing!! Stop on over an see my new blog; yes, I'm new to the whole blogging thing so bear with me ;0)

What a lovely quilt. Just a word of caution, I would keep it out of direct sunlight because that really does a number on old fabric, particularly the silk and other delicate bits...

Hi Karin-
Thanks for the advice!
Yes, this room has light diffusing drapes on each of the windows, though I am going to put a better one on the smaller window. As you can see from the picture for about 10 minutes each day there is one little sliver of light that can get through.
