I'm so excited I have to share with my farmgirl friends!! My dh got me an Ashford traditional wheel for my birthday. For years I had sheep/fiber and no wheel, now I have a wheel and no fiber, lol. I bought it from a lady in Oregon who came over to the rabbit show in CDA, Idaho this weekend. She did send me a baggie of angora rabbit fiber to try. It's been soooo loooong since I've spun, it's gonna take me a bit to get it all back. I will be going to the big spin in at the fairgrounds in CDA, Idaho in March, gotta get me some fiber!!! I'll probably be asking y'all lots of questions too in the coming months!!

Teresa Sue - congrats!! I learned how to spin on a drop spindle years ago but haven't kept up with it. Are you wanting to use only fiber that you get straight from the sheep and have to card or are you into stuff that is dyed etc. already? Paradise Fibers in Spokane looked to have some good stuff - I didn't check out their spinning section much since I don't do it right now

Yay!!! That's so wonderful! I want a spinning wheel so bad! I guess I can wait until my dream farm though. I want a farm with alpacas on it so I can spin yarn.

Well, I used to have sheep and I have spun wool and I like that. I am not opposed to trying other things tho, when I was at the rabbit show one of the women were even talking about spinning with bamboo. I eventually would like a small spinning flock, from there I'm not sure.
Yes, Amy Grace, I'm into the dying part, I would like a dyers garden full of herbs and such that have been used forever to dye with. It is exciting and I thank all of you for sharing your enthusiasum with me, hugs

I love it. It's much like hand quilting in that, it is very meditative. I'm sure if you looked around your area, you could find a group. I have found that spinning/weaving/knitting/crocheting groups are very generous in teaching newbies. You will always find such talented people. Oh, and the extra perk is that spinners always have such cool socks, lol
