Cool, I am slowly becoming obsessed with the depression and what I can learn from it. I am not fearful if we have another one. Just make do and work hard. Thanks for the article!

This was a great article...do you think there is a chance I will EVER look that good at 87 (or 77 or 67)?

Did you know that about milkweed pods? I sure didn't. My girls pretend that they're filleting fish with them when they play house outside. LOL! It must be before all those little seeds begin to form.

Great article. My friend and I were discussing how are mothers were never ones to throw things away. They washed the plastic bags and hung them up to dry, aluminum foil and waxed paper was neatly folded and saved for numerous other uses. This was how my aunts and uncles grew up...it was waste not, want not.

Thank you for sharing this article. I am trying to learn how to make more things from scratch and buy less. It is important with today's economy.

Very inspiring to see how creative our grandparents had made it through the depression. I have a lot of friends from Europe who keep asking me which is worse now or the recession in '78. I thought from what I learned in history class that the Great Depression was by far the worst time of all and yet, this article shows how creative and imaginative people were during that time.
