Kelley, Sheila, and Tammy...thank you so much! I'm really looking forward to getting started with the seeds you've shared. I love the personal touch of this swap. Very kind. I'm hoping to get the petunias in the mail Monday. Hope this isn't too late to start with success... Thanks so much. I think I'd better stop once I get the petunias sent. I'm just a bit too pokey right now to suit my liking for a swap. You've all been very understanding. This will be the last of the seeds...did everyone else get the ones I sent fine?

Ooooh. good to know. I'll send a second time. I've been having issues with my local post office, in addition to my being pokey. Magazines torn, letters getting to friends with only half the envelope there...I guess they just switched to a machine and things keep getting caught in it. Sigh. I will talk with them and see if I can send them a way that won't jamb the machine... Thanks for letting me know! Anyone else not get seeds from me?

when sending seeds and if the package is bulky in any way ask the postal clerk to stamp the parcel with a stamp that says "non machinable" you'll usually have to pay about 20 cents extra, but the item won't be run through the machine and risk damage.

Kelly, have you receive the seeds I've sent you? They were mailed around the 5th so if not plse let me know. I've also had mail problems occassionally. I guess it goes with the territory, livin' in the country and all. Thanks.

I have some popcorn that we love; it is a dark purple kernel and tastes yummmmmy--very flavorful! I don't know its name, I used to buy it from the farmers market and then decided to save some of the ears and plant some kernels that we hadn't eaten :)

The only thing is that maybe 1/3 or so of the plants didn't produce the purple popcorn, but rather yellow. So...being pretty new to gardening, I don't know what to say except that I'm sure it's just a genetic trait that maybe some of the offspring retain the purple color, others have the yellow. But anyhow, it's delicious.

If you're interested, I'd love to trade for veggie/fruit seeds--

The reason your corn is sometimes yellow is probably because it is a hybrid. It will not always grow true to the seeds you saved, that is why most people don't bother to save them. They can revert to either "parent" plant that they were cross bred from. If I want to save seeds from something, I make sure it is an heirloom variety, even then you have to be careful as some can crossbreed up to 50 ft or more when planted apart! I like http://www.seedsavers.org for my seeds. They come with saving instructions on the packet!
I so wish I could partake in your swap but I lost all my seeds in a rainstorm last year ... I inadvertently left them outside while at work ... and it poured all day long! I dried them out, but I'm not sure how many are still viable ... and some of them I'd been saving for years and can no longer get anywhere ...

Well, okay, everyone, you've been warned by Lora. Sorry if I sent you something you no longer will want. . .but truthfully, we did grow lots of great purple ears from the seed last year--and I checked some to see if they'd germinate and they did quickly. So, I guess I don't know how to respond to this info except that if you're unhappy with the popcorn seed now, let me know and I'll see if we can do something else. Oh, but, by the way, the yellow ones popped up yummy too :) Let me know if there's a problem. Thanks everyone!
