Sheila thanks for the popcorn seed! Wow. I shared some at our farmgirl meeting tonight. You are so thoughtful and I'm really looking forward to this.

I am so behind...I have got to get these seeds mailed. Please forgive my lateness, I'll spare you the story, but know I haven't forgotten and will get it done. :) Thank you!

TIna and Tammy...seeds are in the mail for sure this time.
Kelley, if you sent me an e-mail today, I'll get right on yours too. I found out how to get the petunias to grow. It's kind of like starting hot peppers...you'll need a heat source underneath a mini-greenhouse setup and a seed sprouting medium. Totally do-able. I'll send further instructions in trade for your address. :)

Gail, I am interested in some of your seeds...
lavender, fair well to spring, ox eyed daisy, and gloriosa daisy if you still have any.

I have some heirloom morning glories (Scarlet O'hara, Heavenly Blue, and a few Grandpa Otts, and some wild harvested sage that may or maynot be an heirloom, but it has beautiful purple flowerspikes that the hummer and bee go crazy for!!!

Just let me know if you'd like some of my seeds in exchange for some of your seeds...Kelley

Sweet Annie has very tiny seeds like carrot seeds. The plant, I think, is a herb. It is fern like, delicate looking. It is fragrant both when green and when dried. It spreads like crazy but it can easily be mowed. The scent compliments cinnamon so the spray painted (colored or clear) sprigs are usually put in Christmas decorations. (Remember the craze of making the dough like cinnamon shapes to hang on the tree or put in arrangements.)

you are welcome. the broccoli raab is actually not like the broccoli you are used to...it in fact is not a broccoli at all.
here's some info for you:
Although it has broccoli's name, broccoli raab is not related to broccoli. It is, however, closely related to turnips which is probably why the leaves look like turnip greens. Lots of broccoli-like buds appear here and there but a head never forms. It is grown as much for its long-standing, tasty mustard-like tops as for their multiple small florets with clusters of broccoli-like buds.
Used extensively in Italian and Chinese cooking, it is not as popular in the United States but is gaining popularity. The stems are generally uniform in size (hence cook evenly) and need not be peeled. Clean it as you would other greens, removing the bottom portion of the stems which appear tough (sometimes the stems are tougher than other times depending on the age of the rapini). The stems can be removed up to where the leaves begin, and sautéed before adding the leaves to the pan. This vegetable is a source of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as potassium. To maintain crispness, refrigerate, unwashed, loosely wrapped in a plastic bag or wrap for up to 3 days.

Perfect! I'm hoping to grow more leafy greens this year. I guess it's the time of year right now I'm craving leafy greens. Can't wait to go out and see what wild ones are popping up already.
