Aunt Jenny - no way you're 50!? I figured 35, 40 tops. I would have sworn you were younger than me. You sure look great at 50!

Thanks for all those memories girls. Love reading about them. And oh I am 51 and proud of it, lol. (Really I am!!) I remember some, but many had different names here, so maybe I know more than I realize.
I do remember those soda bottle shaped thingies, they were yumm! But here they were made of edible paper and filled with some sort of sour tasting little thingies. REAL good though :) Candy cigarettes, YES Milk delivery but with foil toppers 45's records, oh boy! Still have some in the attic, can't throw those out, lol. Record players at parties, with the reel that held about 10? Dancing with girl friends at Beatles music :) Didn't have drive inn's here, but going to the movies with the news first. That I sort of remember I think.
Too fun to read all this. Memories.....

I'm going to be 44 Thursday and I remember 21 of the items. I always said I was an "old soul". Now it's confirmed cuz I classified as "older than dirt". At least now I know what these grey hairs are for.

I'm 51, scored an 18 and I'm "Older than Dirt"! My sister still gets milk delivery (what I wouldn't give...)Jenny, one of my friends in high school had that push-button Plymouth too. Was it a Valiant? I also remember black and white only TV and just having 13 channels to pick from...and you had to get up to change the channel! Sharon

Yeah, they're Pixie Sticks. They still have those, and the wax coke bottle candy too, but none of that "Nostalgiac" candy tastes like I remember it. It's rather ICKY!!!! Just not the same at all.
And hey, give yourselves CREDIT ladies!!! Age is a STATE OF MIND! Not a NUMBER!!! You're all still young yet, no matter WHAT those numbers say!!! ~~~~ Hugs! Tracy

Sharon..my plymouth was a Belvedere. I loved that old car. It was off white and looked like it needed surfboard racks on top. When I was a kid we for sure had a black and white tv for some time..and 3 channels were what we all had (NBC CBS and ABC) and my dad always said he didn't need a tv with a remote (even after they were common) since he had 3 channel changers ..his kids.

On Saturday my granddaughter came over for a visit and decided to look at some old photos. She is 28 and she commented on all the toys that were in pictures of her and her sister. A refrigerator, stove, sink (all plastic) and there were more. She asked me if I had them when I was young. I told her yes but we made our own out of cardboard boxes and pretended they were the real thing. We'd find a vacant space in a cellar or storage area and we would use that as our house.
Remember me as a rose. |

I have only seen four on the list, I am still young.
Here are the ones I remember - 2.Wax Coke-shaped bottles with colored sugar water 3. Candy cigarettes 5. Coffee shops or diners with tableside juke boxes 23. Drive-ins
Wax Coke-Shaped bottles with colored sugar water and candy cigaretts are still made. I don't think that they put the red tips on the candy cigaretts now and I don't think they call them cany cigarettes anymore.
I have been to a Drive-in many times, there is one that is still open a few towns away from me.
I remember seeing the tableside Juke boxes at a local resturant, but this resturant is now closed down.

I remember pixie sticks and records getting stuck, too.
Linda, that's funny you mention the cardboard boxes. I remember I somehow got a hold of a BIG box (fridge or stove or something) and I cut out windows and doors. I think I was about 6 or 7. I got into my moms fabric stash and pinned pieces of fabric over my window openings. I couldn't find any paint so I used these berries that grew on some bushes (I don't think they were edible) and they made the prettiest reddish purple walls (and arms, legs, face and clothes!). We all didn't need those pre-made toys. We could make our own!
