Can you guess who is really motivated this week??? : )

I have now rid our house of anything that is not our "style" and I am putting it back together in our beachy chic style. I really want to have a finished house instead of a some day house. So, I am really working hard to get things pertied up around here.

For me my list is:
1. Get window coverings up
2. Re-organize and decorate our mammoth tv/entertainment center
3. Find a nice chaise for the living room.
4. Rework my display of items

Who want to join me???

That is a really great challenge, Heather! I have been thinking about this a lot as I have been cleaning and sorting in my house. I'll join you and we will see what I can get done. Since we are on the uber pay off debt budget right now, my redecorating is going to be more along the lines of re-thinking things I have on hand and also about clearing out things that aren't wanted or needed any longer.

Rethinking things is awesome!! It is amazing to me what I already have but was covered by a style I didn't like. I can now see what I have and my "needs" list has been cut in half. These 2 blogs have been really inspirational to me. Lots of ideas and very similiar to what I want!!!

I wanted to add that one thing I started with was neutralizing all the red accents I had in the house. I really don't like red but I like the objects I have. I spray painted and hand painted some things and WOWWY!! What a difference already in the feel of the home!!

I am definetely up for this challenge. We have lived in our house 4 years now and it's never been "finished". I am so ready to do this. I have been working on several things lately and these challenges are a big help.

So now that my dining room is done (except for front window treatment and something to go on the wall behind the buffet) I can start in on the rest of the house. Although now I will have to start painting the rest of the house to match the dining room. SO I have plenty to keep me busy now. I do want to simplify bad. I am tired of so much stuff and clutter in my home. There does need to be some sort of order or theme to this mess.

So count me in on this! Kris

I also finally purged some things we have been pushing around for years. We had a yard sale and I made $200 and donated what was left. I am making a drop off tomorrow of the rest of the stuff. I believe in what goes around comes around.

I read an interesting decorating article were the girl moved into her first home and only took from her apartment EXACTLY what she wanted. She purged 14 garbage bags and 10 boxes of stuff. She won a free home makeover and the decorator re-purposed a lot of her stuff but also finished the entire house for less than $500. It was really inspirational and eye opening. The home owner said once she could see all the beautiful gems she had, the decorating part was easy.

Right now, my biggest problem is we don't have a lot of furniture, so I have to be picky and get the right stuff. Mostly in need of some sort of by the door storage for our shoes, a couch, extra seating and I want to repaint our dining room table.

I'm in! I've been in my house now for 2 years and had only the living room painted. Enough procrastinating...2 weeks ago I put up a wallpaper border in my bathroom (a countryside scene with buildings and farms...cute, cute, cute), painted a tan color above the border and a deep forest green below, put in some primitive style things on the vanity and a shelf, and put a rag rug on the floor. I also have a pantry that I don't use for food because I have enough cabinets, so after much thought I decided to use all those shelves for my books. It worked out great. Now instead of them being scattered all over the house, they're in one place easy to find! Next is the craft room which I've decided to call "The Studio" (sounds more productive..lol). That will have sunshine yellow walls...

I'm up for this challenge! I've already started cleaning out and getting rid of what just doesn't work. We moved into this house 3 years ago and I plan to decorate it so much differently than our other house. Much simpler. We have great furniture--some reproduction and some antiques--some that need reupholstering. One of my goals this year is to learn how to reupholster. I'm a quilter with some great quilts to display. I want an old farmhouse style--since that's what we have--1910 vintage. We have painting to do but I want everything to showcase the beautiful woodwork we have and my quilts.

I may have to rename mine "The Laboratory." Right now it kind of looks alot like a science experiment gone wrong...lol. I want a sign over the door that says "Nobody gets to see the wizard."

I'm in for this challenge! I have had 2 "test" colors of paint in my kitchen and bathroom for 2 months now and haven't been able to choose a color and finish! The kids and I put tile (square sticky ones) on the floors and it turned out very nice but now they're starting to come up!! I also took a big painters floor canvas cloth and laid it in the living room to "hide" those darn tiles that have been sliding around - I started painting that and haven't finished that project yet either! Whew...I'm tired just thinking about it and haven't even started the basement cleaning! Keep me motivated please!!!
