I have so many awesome beautiful female friends who would so love to wear old fashioned dresses, but its so hard to find plus size patterns. The largest size even in the magazine seems to be 18. Any suggestions where to find plus size patterns with an old fashioned look? We are all here in the Sierras and the style is the norm in many places. Just need to find patterns.

I have some simplicity and mccalls patterns that I would love to send to her (never opened or cut apart) just send me her address or yours and I will get them in the mail! Not totally old fashioned but if she sews she should be able to adapt them ....I bought them because they were the most modest patterns I could find at the time...just never got around to sewing them.

Dearest Farmgirl....
If you have a several size pattern, you can enlarge it yourself,,,
Just follow the pattern where they enlarged it and do the same thing until yours is your size...I have a lingerie business, and that is the way I enlarge patterns all the time, becasue patterns are soooo expensive.Hope this helps...
If not, email me and I will explain more in depth....

Beth,
I so know what you mean, being a plus size girly myself. If you can get your hands on the newest edition of the MaryJanesFarm magazine, there is THE BEST tutorial of how to enlarge patterns (it is titled Beeline to Simple Pattern Enlargment). You'll find it on page 34.... it is a must as it takes you step-by-step through how to get it done...The issue is called Simply Bee and should be on the newsstands any day now. I think this time subscribers received it before newsstands.

Terri, thats a wonderful idea! I have seen so many patterns that I liked but that didn't come in my size. It's very frustrating. Thanks for the tip.

Take care, Melissa.

Bless each and everyone of you!! I have checked out the site links and have found some I like. I think I was born in the wrong era, but am thankful I live in an area where old fashioned clothes are welcomed. (This is the CA gold rush area of the 1800's). I see men all the time who look like they stepped out of the 1800's by how they dress.
