...everyone must be swamped with holiday prep. I wish everyone the best of everything, and I'll see all of you when it picks up after the New Year.

Amanda - this place is never dead, just resting! Right now I am headed to northern Illinois and happy about it! Cold but clear, so far.

Have a wonderful Christmas, and keep cozy! We will be close by!

Dead? And, just when I wanted to hear about everyone's special Christmas traditions. I've searched the forum and don't see that topic bouncing around. Did I miss it? I'm certain with all this farmgirl energy, you have the best traditions of all. I'm just creating ours and wanted some input. I'm not after dazzle and glitz, but the meaningful traditions and rituals. Anybody have time to share? Funny, in years past my husband and I sought the perfect tree and spent a fortune on it. We decorated it with white lights and silver and crystal ornaments. Beautiful, yes. But...this year we went to a cut-your-own tree farm and had our 4 year old daughter pick out our tree. Really. She got to pick it. We had a blast. And, came home with a pretty good tree. Certainly not the fullest or the straightest, but a pretty good tree indeed. (We could have done much worse afterall.) Well, we got home and dug out all those old colored lights. And, found and unpacked old ornmaments from the boxes we had packed away years ago (and almost discarded). Now this tree makes me smile. That's our new tradition. No perfectionism or consumerism when it comes to our Christmas trees.
I'd like to hear yours. If anyone knows of this topic already on a thread, please let me know!
Enjoying being with you farmgirls,
Rebekah

Rebekah -

On this forum "Holidays" look at the second page and scroll down a bit you will see Holiday Traditions thread. Just like everyone else I have been busy getting ready - just got done doing the Christmas Dinner grocery shopping. Believe it or not, there is a run on fresh cranberries here in Portland. Can't be found anywhere. Got everything else I needed though without much hassle from the crowds. Everyone have a safe trip if you are traveling this holiday season. Stay warm and give your loved ones great big hugs and kisses.
