Wednesday night a bunch of people from our church are going carolling to some older people who can't get out and about much. We will end with a chili feed at our home. Hoping to have a truck with a flatbed fill with straw, but have to check with the local police if it will be allowed. Wondering who else will be spreading Christmas cheer in song.

Happy Holidays Julia!
You'll brighten the holidays of those folks who are homebound, especially in this frigid weather! Your chili will warm you up afterwards.
Last night I went ice skating at the rink at the fairgrounds here in Moscow, ID. There was a flatbed filled with haybales in the parking lot. The St. Mary's church group had been caroling. They were having lots of fun ice skating, too.
Tis the season!! Merry Christmas farmgirl friend!! I hear that you may be visiting us this week ~ it's always a joy to see your smiling face!!
love ya,

HI Cindylou! Ice skating sounds so much fun. OUr wearther here has gotten warmer and rainy, hoping tomorrow night for carolling won't be wet. As for the visit, as much as I wish it were me. Must be one of our other Julia's. Have a merry Christmas! Julia V.

We just had the little kids from the daycare center next door, come in and carol. These were the 3 & 4 year olds. So cute. I was the only one in the office and I sang along with them. Made my day!

Hi Julia!
We just went caroling last Friday night with a group of 20-25 friends ages 4 to 80. The moon was full and the air was cold (about 20 degrees that night) - perfect night to walk through the small settlement that we live near. We visited about 12 houses, mostly widows and widowers, and made lots of joyful noise. None of us can carry a tune very well ;) but we sure had fun. We had snacks before leaving, and then more snacks along with mulled grape juice that I canned this last fall, and hot chocolate upon our return a few hours later. As always, it's one of our favorite Christmas season traditions, along with the live nativity that our family takes part in at the local produce stand each year. The farmer that owns the stand provides the "stage", i.e. produce stand made of logs; and many farm animals. Other community members haul in their sheep and cows and pose as actors as someone narrates the Christmas story. Afterward, hot apple cider and homemade cookies are shared with all. It's a neat tradition that our family loves.

Julia and Bev, That sounds fantastic and very "Mayberry"-ish. Wish I were there. Rebekah

OUr caroling was GRAND! we had 52 people show up. WE went to a long care facility, and then to some shut ins. We got rained on, pour on would be more like it. Yet no one seemed to care. we had such a good time. we wnet back to our home and had the chili, coffe, cocoa and great desserts! What a wonderful waay to share Christmas with others.
Bev, the living Nativity sound so special. What a wonderful opportunity to share the Christmas story. Julia V.
