We decided this year we wanted to do a non traditional Christmas Dinner. We didn't want to spend all Christmas in the kitchen just to cook a bird. So tonight we are having hamburgers and hotdogs and tomorrow we are having a meatloaf dinner! I think this relieves quite a bit of stress on all of us!

Last night we had hamburger gravy and biscuts. Perfect for feeding a crowd, not sure what is for dinner tonight.

We are having a small beef roast with poratoes and carrots we grew in the garden. We usually buy one roast a year. The big treat this A.M were biscuits with wild Huckleberry preserves!!! Yum!!! |

We're having ribs on the grill, chicken-apple sasusages, baked potatoes and broccoli. Nope, there's nothing traditional there. :)

our family does a potluck. we end up with all the traditional goodies, but nobody has to cook all day. we all pitch in and clean up before opening gifts.
What we write today slipped into our souls some other day when we were alone and doing nothing. -Brenda Ueland

My three adult children and I take turns with Christmas dinner and whoever is hosting gets to pick a theme. One year one daughter did a fondue dinner, my son did a traditional English Christmas dinner, and this year I did a Mexican fiesta with homemade tamales, enchiladas del mar, chili rellenos, and chili colorado, with flan for dessert. It was good but way to much time-consuming work so the next time it's my turn I think I'll go back to something simpler, like ham or roast goose.

We always have chicken and cheese enchiladas with pinto beans for Christmas dinner. We don't want another turkey, etc. after just having had it at Thanksgiving. Dessert is the table full of Christmas baking - pies, pralines, cookies, fudge, peanut brittle, etc. |

This year Christmas eve was cheese fondue. Some years we do a delicious seafood stew. Christmas Eve is always a one pot wonder!
