Citric acid is very expensive to buy in the stores. It's about 10.00lb. here. You can by it at essentialwholesale.com for about 1.90lb. Not sure how much shipping would be though. I'm only 30 min. from the warehouse, so we just drive over and pick it up. They also carry lots of other supplies for making soaps, lotions etc. Not sure if that's why you need the citirc acid. Good Luck!
Blessings,
Missy

Jenn -- if you're buying citric acid to do bath products I would recommend getting it from a place like Essential Wholesale. We've tried bath bombs with the store bought stuff and with what we got from Essential. The difference in how the end product turned out was amazing.

Sweet Celebrations (formerly Maid of Scandinavia) sells Citric Acid crystals for putting in food products. The last time I checked their website you couldn't order from it, but it gives you the information to request a catalog. They sell all kinds of wonderful kitchen stuff; especially specialty items and cake decorating/candymaking supplies. I think the web site is www.sweetc.com
P.S. These crystals make home-made mashed bananas taste just like the commercial baby food bananas.

Colette:
You found the secret of Sweet Celebrations, My favorite Foodie Catalog! So much fun in there.
I also have gotten Citric Acid Crystals from the health food store and drug store can sometimes order it in. I prefer to use Ascorbic Acid(vitamin C) crystals for my canning and food preservation. It can be used interchangably.

Tania,
Not only do I know the secret of Sweet Celebrations catalog, I have the privilege of shopping in their store every year when we "go home" to Minnesota to visit! Always makes me hungry when I browse there! :) And my suitcase is always heavier when we return home.

Citric acid in Australia is in the supermarkets, but then again we live in the country. |

In Sydney, Australia - go to Flemington Markets (Homebush). There is a fantastic stall there I discovered recently that sells all kinds of herbs and spices you can buy by the scoop - 100g/250g/1kg whatever - including Citric Acid. They also have Indian spices, dried mint (for home-made mint sauce), vanilla pods etc etc. Great place! |

I use to sell bath fizzies and I got my citric acid in the canning section at my grocery store. It's not a very big container but it did the trick and made the fizzies very bubbly.
Here's a link to the product: http://store.yahoo.com/mrswages/mrswagcitac.html |
