Ic ( Interstitial cystitis) : a bladder disease that cause inflamation of the bladder which can cause severe pain, bleeding, painful intercourse, urinate alot, uti's.

I found out I had IC after a hernia operation I had a few years ago. I have always had it but didnt know till then. I cant eat or drink anything high in acid. or it causes severe pain and the pain feels like a UTI.

It has ruined my life in a few ways: Where ever I have worked I got made fun of all the time, every day for having to pee so often ( It can be 20 - 40 times a day) some people up to 60 times a day. It isnt something that can be helped. there is no cure. I havent been to a urologist to get a full work up cause I have no INS and its very expensive. I had 2 operations: 1 hysterectomy in 2005 and 8 months later I had a hernia operation. Each costing over $10,000, but thank god the surgion ( sp) wrote off the hernia operation cause I had no Ins. I also had my gall bladder removed way before that so least to say my body has been through hell. anyways...I worked for a business my family owned for 10 months, that was last year. They wouldnt give me health Ins. I was made fun of every day for peeing. I eventually got ito a huge fight with my sister and quit, I just couldnt stand being made fun of everyday and I couldnt work with my [bleep]y over controlling sister anymore.

Notonly has this affected me emotionally but psycially as well. I want to work but again who wants to hire someone who is always in the bathroom?

I do make crafts and have sold crafts but it doesnt pay the bills. I think I waste more money than I make with crafts. I started a blog about me , hobbies and my crafts.

I recently have been trying to do creative resumes online but that hasnt got off the ground. I feel useless most of the time. especially because of the job situation.

anyways..sorry to go on and on here. If anyone wants to check out my blog:

Kimberly, I'm sorry to hear about all that you've been going through. (Hugs) I've know what it's like to work for family and have some health issues. I used to have a lot of bladder infections and UTI. At one place I worked they made fun of how many times I had to go. At my old boss' retirement party they did like a roast to her. They quoted many of her sayings and one was... 'Where's Elaine? Oh, that's right in the bathroom, she's always in the bathroom'. Needless to say I was so embarrassed. I hope that some good things come your way on the job front as well. I loved your blog, your primitive art is beautiful!

It really sucks that adults can be as mean as junior high kids. The things you make look really cool and I hope you can find a good venue to sell them.

Don't give up on the job front. If you find a job that doesn't require you to keep to a strict break schedule, it shouldn't be a problem. Or better yet, find a new doctor and get some kind of medical note saying you have to use the bathroom frequently (after you've been hired!)

I doubt that you'll be able to get medical disability for this. My sister has MS and that doesn't even qualify. But definitely look for a better doctor. Does Ohio have any kind of insurance program for low-income, uninsured workers? NY state has a program called Healthy NY, maybe Ohio has something you would qualify for.

Have you tried that pill that helps overactive bladders? I used to get UTIs once a month and they gave me a sample of it, it worked really well!!!

Hello all! I am allergic to a ton of medications including all of those ones that help over active bladder. When I have had surguries the docs were really in a quandry as to what they could give me.

Yeah! its tough to be made fun of because of this. I have had so many jobs I kinda have given up at the moment.

I tried to get health Ins through ohio but I was denied! YOu have to be in poverty level income. I guess my husband makes too much money to be considered poverty.

I am trying not to feel so down but yes I am whining today. I guess I feel like I try so hard to make stuff happen and nothing ever does so I guess I have that I cant seem to catch a break.

I have tried to sell on etsy and had O luck there.

Thanks for putting up with me today!

Dear Kim, There is hope for you! Check out a Dr by the name of Dr.Ronald Hoffman. He is a board certified internist but is also an expect on using natural methods to cure illness. He has a website and a radio show and you can call and ask him about your condition for free!Just google his name and you will be at his website. I work in the medical field and really think he is great and has some very useful information. He has an office in NYC if you want to see him. Never give up on yourself; you are God's child.

Thank you! I will check him out. I have felt down this past week about it but in the middle of the night , I couldnt sleep, I was bombarded with all these thoughts and ideas for a guide that relates to this. I thought WOW! maybe I can use the IC to my advantage! The only thing I am going to say is it is a guide with some humour and funny stories thrown in. I am going to do some research and get some thoughts from some local publishers before I decide to go ahead with it.

Your idea for a guide sounds good Kim. I had never heard of the disease before, so there may not be a lot of info out in the public about it.
