Hello girls,
I sent a message the other day about being content where I am in my life & about living on the Jersey Shore. Someone sent me an e-mail stating that "you (meaning me) should never have sent your e-mail to this group. Don't you know were farm girls not surfers. And didnt I notice only one person responded". Well, No, I didnt. First, I am not a "surfer" yet! Second, whoever you are, you have no clue what Maryjane Butters & her farmgirl connection is about. Didn't you read what she wrote when the moderating went back to the farm? Haven't you read ANYTHING she has written? I dont live on a farm, I dont raise chickens, sheep, pigs, cows or any other farm animal and yes I live on the Jersey shore. My home is decorated with shells, dolphins, wash boards, canning equipment and a/thing else that relates to things I love.
I was trying to do a good thing by saying it's ok to be happy where you are. When I was so down in the dumps about NOT having a farm & driving myself nuts about it, people on THIS forum helped me feel better. Thats what this forum is about. You take Cabin-creek (Frannie) who lives a real country life, I dont feel less conected to her because I live on the Jersey shore. I hope know one else took it that way & I apoligize if you did.
Whoever you are, I ordered my first Maryjane book from her, but I bought 8 more at my Barnes & Noble for gifts for people. I still have 2 left for someone else but if you would like, I'd be happy to send it to you. I think you really need to read it from cover to cover because you don't have the farmgirl spirit, not yet but I pray you will get it. Michele

Michele, I can't imagine why anyone would be so rude. What does it matter where anyone lives. I live in a subdivision in WI, does that mean I can't be a farmgirl? I believe, like you, that we can be content wherever we live. Like MJ says, "Farmgirl is a condition of the Heart". You have it!! Jan

Michele,
((big ole sigh))
I can't imagine ANYone taking offense or criticizing the beautiful post you made the other day. I am sorry(and shocked) that you had to receive such a negative reply to it. Quite sad,it is.All of it.
You can only acknowledge that whoever wrote it is not in the same comfortable, safe, soul-fulfilled place you are now.
You DID do a good thing to say that it's OK to be happy where you are. And your second post here, beautiful in it's own right, proves you are a fine "farmgirl" by definition of the word.
Jersey shore or not.
Really kind gesture to offer MJ's book to the fellow farmgirl, but if it hasn't been read by now,it probably won't be.

Take Care and((hugs)),
Michele

Michelle -- I am just absolutely shocked that anyone would send such a negative email. You can be assured that whoever it was is not a person who frequents this forum on a regular basis. And if they are (which I doubt) then they should be asked to leave. You are truly a Farmgirl because you feel it in your heart -- and that's where it counts. We welcome you with open arms no matter where you live!

Thanks girls, Susan I did go back to search every name we have but didnt find it. My husband was with me (better at computers) when we didnt find it & I calmed down, he said it wasn't worth me being upset. I deleted it with my other "junk" mail & threw it in the trash. Im better now but was really shocked. I really can't imagine or believe anyone from here would send something like that so it makes me believe it came from somewhere else but people just visiting the site can't get to our e-mail can they? PS>Perhaps the farm can trace the source of the email for you and handle it from the inside.

The sender's username is included on the email. I just sent one to myself to be sure of this.

Hello ThymeForEweFarm
You received the following message from: ThymeForEweFarm (my email address here)
At: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/
test

With that info you can look up the sender's information. I bet it's just a troll, and not a regular member. It doesn't sound like something someone with a farmgirl heart would say. Your offer of the book is generous. I hope he or she takes you up on it.

((hugs)) You didn't do anything to make anyone feel bad. If there's any real offense it came from inside the person, not you. Your message is excellent and should be taken to heart. Happiness is a choice.

Wow,
I really thought the object here was to share each others wisdom (which Michele has plenty--I tell ya!), not to be critical, I don't live on a farm anymore, I wish I did. But Michele's attitude is great, we all need to learn to be happy where we are.
I feel I probably will never be on a farm again, but I can keep that spirit alive in me and still be happy where I am and may always be.
I would hate to come to the end of my live and say I could have been happy if I'd have done this or that! I know I'm happy with my life just as is, and maybe always will be.
Sorry to ramble...

Ooops! We were writing at the same time. I'm glad you didn't find the person on the list. The sender doesn't see your email address. You can send yourself a message to see exactly what's shown when we send emails through the site.

Michele,
I think visitors cannot get to your profile information.
Only registered users can send you a direct email.
You have 24 hours to get stuff out of your computer "trash can" after you delete it. More questions for the farm.

Again, so sorry for the upset, Michele.

It makes me so sad that this happened to you Michele!! Everyone has already said the same thing I figure too..that it can't be a regular member...at least I hope not! I think you are great and Bloom Where you are Planted is one of my favorite quotes. Not all of us are where we want to be or happy there anyhow...and for you to be content and all is beautiful. You certainly have Farmgirl spirit and thats what its all about. We love you!

Wow. I wish this kind of stuff didn't happen to places like this. Whoever it was just doesn't get it. I feel bad for that person, because they can't see what we have here, this connection. I have a slight feeling that it could be someone outside of this forum. Ya know, this is open to the public to read and someone could just register just to send you a nasty little something, just to be mean. I just can't imagine someone here thinking that way. It was very good of you to offer your extra copy to MJ's book. It just goes to show the farmgirl spirit in you. One matter where you live, I certainly do not live on a farm. Try to brsuh this negatively off of yourself it's go to throw it into the trash.

Dear Michele,
This is a very interesting and sad dilemma, I agree.

I thought your original post was wonderful... and I was going to send you a personal email to thank you for your lovely comments of me; however, when I went to your profile, it does not show any contact information for you, i.e. no email link. So this furthers the question of how someone usurped the system to get to your email address.

I would love to hear from you again Michele, and you may email me from here... we haven't caught up in a while now, have we? Busy lives.

((more hugs)))

Glad you are feeling better Michelle. Some people can be stinky. I don't have a farm either, probably never will. But as many have said, it is the spirit within that makes you a farm girl. I have a friend that lives in the country, on a farm and is by no means a farmgirl. So whether on the Jersey shore or the Oregon coast where I am, farmgirls we be!!!! You are grand and I am glad you are here! Wish we could have tea and take a walk on the beach. By the way, this farmgirl also has shells, starfish, and sand dollars in her house. In fact I have made some sand dollar ornaments for my tree. Merry Christmas Michelle!!! Julia V.

Hi Michele. I'm so sorry you received that awful e-mail. Please look back into your e-mail program and see if you can determine who it came from so that I can look into it a little further.

I did want to assure you, however, that you do have your "send me an e-mail" feature enabled on our forum. Clare might not have seen that feature because she wasn't logged in -- you have to be logged in to get that feature. When I went to your profile, I saw a link where I could click to send you an e-mail. Only registered users on our forum can use that feature, so the person who sent it to you was, indeed, a user, but it doesn't sound like they were a farmgirl at heart. Please take another look at both your in box and your out box in your e-mail program to see if you can determine who it came from, and then send that information to me at carol@maryjanesfarm.org.

Thanks Michele!

michele darlin' ... jus' let 'the sad words' run offa' your back like water offa' duck's back. i'm a big believer that when someone says something hurtful .. it is almost always a 'plea for help'. and sometimes humans just put their mouths (or typing) into action before their 'thinkin' has caught up with it. let's all jus' offer a little prayer heavenward for whoever was sad enough to write those words to you. i feel sure they are a good person and would have never written unwelcoming words to you had they thought about how it would have felt to have received a similar message. the 'good book' sure puts it all in perspective where it sez:

"do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

it mattereth not whether we live in a farmhouse in the country, a log cabin in the woods, a cottage by the sea, a McMansion in a housing development, an apartment in the city .. or anywhere in-between ...

as Maryjane so beautifully puts it:

"Farmgirl is a condition of the heart"

I live in a log cabin in the country .. yet, i have no chickens, cows or other farm critters ... (and still i have that 'heart condition' mentioned above.

I love reading of making cheese, milking cows, chasin' chickens, growing tobacco, pitchin' hay, and all the other 'farm chores' that some of the farmgirls have as part of their lives .. even though .. i may never personally experience these adventures. I also delight in the stories of the seaside and city! We Women are all connected by a strong silver thread wherever we dwell.

All of us .. EVERYWOMAN, regardless where or what our homes are .. can accomplish just about anything that Maryjane writes of in her Lifebook ... sewing, cooking, cleaning, creating, collecting, gardening, camping, fishing, mothering, mentoring, loving ... and THAT, my dear true friends, is what being a FARMGIRL is all about.

please, sweet michele, keep telling us of your life and all that fills it and gives you joy. hugs, frannie

Not sure this helps matters but.....
I wanted to send Michele an email today and it says (on my end)
"No info specified". I could not send her an email and I am logged in.

Turns out I can only see your e-mail link when I'm logged in as an administrator, so that's why others aren't seeing it. Have you ever posted your e-mail address on this forum or written to other members through e-mail? That's the only other way I can think that others would have access to your e-mail. We'll look into this a little further and see what we can come up with!

Thanks again!

Sorry you got hit by a troll! I hate that.. This is actually the first forum I have ever participated in where I haven't run in to any before... I really hope it stays that way.. I think it will with the great Moderators we have here!

you can be oh so smart, or you can be oh so positive. I wasted a lot of time being smart I prefer being positive.
