We hung up our Christmas stockings this morning and my daughter asked what they were. I told her they were stockings so Santa Claus could put goodies and candy in them.

When DH got home from work this evening my daughter told him in a as-a-matter-of-factly manner that Santa comes and puts marshmallows in those socks!

LOL..she kept DH and I rolling laughing for a good little bit over that one. :)

Santa never brought me candy, but Sinterklaas did.
Sinterklaas in the Netherlands is celebrated on Dec. 5 .
He brought little spicey cookies and chocolate letters to us.
We got to put our shoe near the chimney, sing songs and the next morning there was always a little candy in it.:)

Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

That is so neat, Marian. Thanks for sharing it. I always love hearing how different people have different traditions.
It has been almost 7 years since I spent my last Christmas at home as a single woman. I think once you get married and move away, the traditions are never really the same. Even now, as we have moved back near my parents, there traditions are different and the whole Christmas day is different. as we all grew oler the anticipation dissipated and now it is more formal (all of we kids are in our 20s now.) We have had 2 celebrations since living at home. One at my grandparents and one in the cozy of our own home. This year and last has been one at my parents. I miss the 2 times, but it is nice to be home anyways.:)

Hey Marian, My mama is European, they celebrate Dec 6th...I wrote about it somewhere in BigTown...yes, I think most of Europe celebrates Santa Claus early in December, and the 25th is spent as a religious holiday.
