So I stopped explaining.

Hubby and I are jumping feet first, again, into the next phase of our life. We have decided to sell everything but the bare bone basics for survival and comfort to reach all of our goals down the road. A lot is depending on where we get stationed next, but we have several options on paper and the details for each specific place already in motion.

People think we are crazy and maybe we are but by GOLLY when did people get so afraid to live life??? I know things are crazy in this world right now, but everything has an up and down in life and things are going to get better. I not only believe that but I can feel it.

We had a H U G E yardsale and our apartment now looks like a college students dorm room but we are so happy and feeling really free. People feel the need to make off handed comments and I decided that true friends and understanding friends would not judge us or make us feel weird about who we are.

So OFF they go and off we go...hi ho, hi ho...and a YEE HAW!!!

It is really great to finally love myself and my family enough not to care anymore...!!!!

Good for you Heather. I think to many of us worry about what someone else thinks, when we should spend more time worrying about "what we think".. Best of luck to you guys!

Indeed, follow your OWN path and dreams! I learned today to let some things go, because you can't please all people all the time.
And as long as YOU both are happy with the decisions you have made, that is the most important thing!!

You go girl, enjoy your plans!!

Heather, you go girl!

It is a hard world we live in at times and I know all too well that things don't bring you happiness. For us it happened several years back after my hubby got out of the Air Force we decided we were going to start living by our own rules. No more keeping up with the Jones'. We got rid of all our credit cards, thus credit debt, and started living a more simple life. Which was really easy when our children were little and didn't want for anything. Now they want for some things, as do we all at times, but we never buy it on credit and we have always been honest with them and if we didn't have the cash we didn't have it. My friends thought I was crazy for giving up credit cards and all the little extras that they couldn't dream of being without. A $5 latte is a rare special treat for me but for them it is a once daily thing...sometimes 2 or 3 x a day. A summer vacation in the thousands and holidays that they all charged a few years ago and are still paying for. That I don't have. I do splurge here and again. Mainly on fabric which is my weakness. It is harder for my hubby but he has appreciated the fact that we bought all their toys and gadget in cash! It is not that I don't let them have it they just have had to learn to wait for it.

So stay strong during those times when people are draining you. You can do this. You all can do this and one day when you see how "rich" your family is in love and generosity you will gleam with pride and joy.

(((HUGS))) To all!!! and thanks... : )

First of all, I no longer keep my mouth shut. Now, I was the type of person who would put up with A LOT of stuff from other people, to the point it was taking a physical and mental toll on me. So, I put my foot down and several people didn't like it but they should love me for who I am, not what how they want to control me to be.

Secondly, my life has completely flipped. Someone commented the other day that I seemed more "bossy"??? , aggresive??? ( I conclude it is new found confidence) because I have changed the way I dress. I am entering an arena of work where I need to dress for work and also, I realized, I am running into clients and people in public. I am so "the be who you are and not give into conformity" but at the same time, I have a whole new career with multiple possibilities completely opening up to me. I now dress lady smart business chic. Believe me, at home, I am old cowgirl in flip flops with holey jeans and my pink football jersey. Seriously, since I upped my game, life has been handing me more opportunity. People are treating me better, life seems sunnier and maybe, rather I know it is because I am treating myself better in life, all around.

Continuing in that train of thought, we both feel a need to cleanse, a fresh start, so this next move will provide that and we want to take as little as possible. We both L O V E the look of a clean, simple room, I do add the aha!! to the rooms, as hubby is totally oblivous to scale or design, but otherwise, we like it nice but simple. We both agree as long as we have a place to sleep, eat with food in the pantry, clothes, toys for Charlie, our pictures, our bikes and a few other comfortable basics, we really don't want or need anything else right now.

I was once in this place before and I got scared when someone would say something and I reverted but this time, something has changed and ONWARD and UPWARD!!! YEEEEEE HAWWWW!!

That is awesome Heather! You keep doing what you, Scott and Charlie need you to do! I think it is a lesson that we as a society could learn. We don't need gobs of stuff to be happy. Instead find a few things that are really special and enjoy!

It's funny because it's not like we are trying to wipe away who we were, just trying to move on with who we have become. The things we own no longer make us happy or we don't even like the stuff. That kind of karma needs to be gotten rid of. THANK goodness hubby doesn't think I am crazy!!! : )
The stuff is just dragging us down and since I am the one that packs and unpacks everything each time we move (hubby is the muscle and truck loader), I can't imagine repacking all this stuff again and unpacking again and still being unhappy. F R E E D O M!!! : )

I found this quote today and posted it also on my blogsite. I find it quite challenging to say the least:
"One isn't necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest." ....Maya Angelo

Heather- I know what you mean. We have a storage room full of stuff that hasn't made it out of boxes. Some of that is because we have zero usable storage here, and some of it is stuff that needs to go!

I've been doing a little downsizing of my own as well......what a liberating feeling! I love it....I'm trying to break it down to the 'what I have to haves' verses 'what I want to haves'....I started with my closet!! And boy let me tell you....It literally takes me have the time to get out what I'm going to wear!! The stuff I don't need just isn't in the way anymore.

Cheryl- Perfect quote!! I am going to put that on my board.

I think we finally get "IT"...which I am so thankful I get at 34 and not when I am older and full of regret, as so happens a lot in my family. I know that keeping an open heart and mind has helped tremoundously. Also, not being attached to stuff helps a great deal. Things are nice and they are nice to own and I am honored to own them and lucky to have owned them but I have learned stuff can hamper one's direction in life. I had family members who couldn't even move across town because they can't move the amount of stuff or it wouldn't fit into a new space. The move would have allowed them more job opportunities and a safer environment but their home was so full of stuff, they couldn't move. So the excuse of not having a good job, being unhappy, etc...all was blamed on where they lived, but it was the stuff that was holding her back. Does that make sense???

Heather,
I wish I had your brave soul! It is hard when other people don't get it to just say OH well and be content with what you know is right...at least that is how it seems for me. :P I let everyone else decide for me how I should be what I should have. The whole time miserable because I feel like I have to compete and I DON'T!!
Keep heading the way you are heading!!
