Alee, I was wondering if you were willing to sell any of the diapers that Nora outgrew?

Hi Heather-

Well, I have a few that I made that are still good and of course I can make more any time!

What size are you needing and diaper diapers or training pants diapers?

diaper diapers, I'm going to probably need new born. I go to the dr on Friday, but two test say yes. lol

What about covers, you have any small ones you want to sell? lol

Let me know the prices, I would love to buy some from you. The more transitional the size the better. (IE bigger, I can roll down etc, and make work till they grow. Cause I don't have much money to invest as they grow much).

Oh Congrats Heather! That is wonderful!!

I made Nora 3 different sizes- New Born, First Year, and Second Year. Second Year would be more like Training pants, and she stayed in her newborns for about 2-3 months.

Also, are you thinking more about the flat folds (where you fold them into a diaper shape each time you use them) or the contoured ones?

For Flat Folds
I can get 4 diapers per yard of flannel for newborn to about 4 month age. And then I can get 2 diapers per yard for the 4 month to 1 year plus. I can make cloth diaper wipes out of the extra.

Now, of course Nora was born at 5.5lbs so she was small but long. So it is possible that the newborn ones might not fit as long.

I might have some covers in our storage things- I think I gave some to friends but I think I remember seeing her new born sizes when I was packing up. I need to re-pack the boxes anyway so I will look for you. If I don't have any, www.naturalabode.com is where I got mine and they are very long lasting! (I like the kind with snaps the best) And even though they seem expensive at $9 each, they do last a long long time. We only need about 3 wraps for Nora.

hmmm, which do you think is best contured of flats? I've never used flats.

Lela was really tiny, I don't expect the next one to be much bigger. Lela was only 4 lbs at birth I think she was 3 months before she was 5.5.

But, flats last longer growth wise right? Contures you have to go up in sizes more?

Hi Heather-

Yes, the flats last longer because you can change the way you fold them to fit better. The contoured ones are super nice for when they start moving around because they have elastic around the legs and so are less likely to have leak disasters.

I would suggest doing the flat folds if everyone who will be around him/her is okay with a teeny bit more work at each diaper change. They are super cheap to make as well.

For the flat folds you would need some diaper pins as well.

The way we folded Nora's flat folds is called the "Origami Fold" If you get out a square piece of fabric perhaps you could try the fold to see how easy it can be. It's a bit tricky the first...say 2 times you do it, but once you learn the fold you can do it in about 2 seconds flat!

So if you have a square piece of fabric, fold it in quarters to start. The lay it down on a table so that the folds of the fabric are the far left and the bottom of the square. The top and the right side should be the "loose" edges.

Look at the upper right hand corner where the loose edges are. There are now 4 layers because you folded it in quarters. Pick up only the top upper right hand corner. Pull it to the left all the way until the top layer has formed a huge triangle. Underneath the triangle will be a 2 layer deep square.

Now carefully flip the whole thing over so the triangle is on the bottom and the square part is on top. Fold the square part in thirds or fourths. If you fold it on on itself, it will have nice rounded edges.

Now baby gets placed on the "roll" part and the triangle edges pin to the roll part between their legs.

Sounds good to me. Can snappies be used for that? Or only pins?

I would assume the snappies could be used until they were much more active- though I never used them myself so I am not sure how well they hold for active kids.
