Linda, I used a mixing bowl turned upside down. I have a tea kettle that is small, but the poor thing has really seen better days. I did not want to put my pretty tea cozy on it, so that's what I did. That may be a useful method for you, too.

Linda! I can't wait! Except now I just realized I have no fabric for the apron swap and I'm sweating about how I'm going to get to town and shop for that so I don't have TIME to be excited....just kidding. A little craft-stress rant...lol

Cathy, The tea cozy left this morning... Girls, what type of tea do you drink? I like Lipton and if my husband isn't at home I put one tea bag white tea with peach in with my Lipton to brew. I also make hot tea and add a couple of dried apricots, it gives the hot tea a light flavor and I love to get down to the apricots and eat them...probably not proper tea time but this I shall get past too!

Found this on a website today (will post the link as well) "The History of Tea Cosies The history of tea cosies, also known as tea cozies, dates back to the mid to late 1800's. At this time tea cosies were appearing in many households across Britain.
Tea cosies were traditionally knitted, crocheted, hand embroidered and quilted.
Rumours abound as to the actual events that led up to the invention of a tea cosy for your teapot.
our cosy hats off to tea . . .
One such tale recounts the story of an Irish farmer, who apon his woolen hat falling on top of his freshly brewed pot of tea, discovered that his tea was extraordinarily hot when it came time to pour.
His wife set about knitting his teapot a proper woolen cover to keep his tea hot and thus the humble tea cosy was born.
However they came to be, Tea Cosies do actually help to preserve the flavours and aromas of your favourite tea.
By using a Tea Cosy, your tea will stay piping hot for you to enjoy your first, second and even third cup of tea. And they look so sweet and 'olde wordly fashioned' too."
Here's the link: http://www.tearoselane.com/tea_teacosies.html
Take a look around the site - they have a lot of really neat patterns...

Also, if anyone is interested, I will post a spring/Easter tea cozy themed swap around the first of March. Easter is April 12. I'll post more details later.

Thanks for the history lesson of tea cozies....very nice. Until this swap I had never heard of them! I went to Salvation Army yesterday and saw a couple of tea sets...didn't like either one. One was so tall and skinny (and ugly) that I would never use it. The other one was ok but it did't really lookk like a teapot. It had bamboo handles (like a purse). I'm looking for a plain short, fat one. There is another store I can go to. I'm gonna just guess and send this cozy on...looks good to me. :-) It's zero degrees here today...I'm wanting to stay inside! cold!

When it's that cold, even the thermomoter stays in because it has nothing to measure!

I have three shelves under the counter, next to the stove with all kinds of tea:) it totally depends on my mood. Green, jasmine, plain black, assam, all kinds of herbals too. I am planning a big tea garden area this year! Deb who can never remember her farmgirl number!

Debby, that garden sounds so neat! I think I need to broaden my horizons and venture into some new teas. I did purchase a couple of tims of tea at a tea party. It was Let'sdotea party and I got Fresh peach white tea,(loved it!) and Sweet Christmas Rooibos Tea...so, so and a 3 oz tin of Nutcracker Sweet Black...We drank it about Christmas time or rather I drank a couple of batches. I think I like your idea of growing my own...I favor my Lipton tea with a couple of sugars...no milk. I think it is because my grandmother loved her tea that way...tea parties with grandma are treasured memories. Good china, white gloves, dresses, sun bonnets, and fresh flowers on the table, homemade butter, fresh baked breads and biscuits daily, and homemade chocolate cake with me licking the spoon....preparing the tea right after washing the clothes in the old wringer washer and hanging the clothes out to dry. (I always rushed around to get the tasks done so we could sit down for tea.) I wish for everyone to stop and have a cup of tea and just breath and relax...now that we have tea cozies, we can sit for a longer period of time because our tea will stay warmer longer.

I've heard that lemon balm makes a really good tea. We grow a few plants for our rabbits - they LOVE it!

HI Janie! Your beautiful teacozy arrived yesterday and graced my tea time this afternoon! Of my 10 teapots, it fits 8! The colors are perfect and your craftmanship is wonderful. A snail mail thank you is headed your way!
For tomorrow and its needs I do not pray, but keep me, guide me, love me, Lord just for today. St. Augustine

We finally got some wonderful sunny dry weather here. So yesterday my husband, MIL and I were all out clearing away storm debris, pruning fruit trees and turning compost into garden beds. It was fun to bring a small table out and hollar " Tea Time"! I realized that once my cozy arrives we won't have to drink it so fast:) Although yesterday was still 53 degrees so we were drinking it to take a break, but also to warm up. Sarita--try growing Holy Basil for tea. It is called Tulsi tea and tastes wonderful. It is also great if you just feel a little off. It adds a boost to your immune system. deb

Bigelow makes a pear/roobis tea that is just fabulous!! I have restless leg syndrome, and the roobis helps that. I have found tons of different flavored roobis teas, but that pear is the best!

Shery-lyn, I will have to see about getting some of the pear roobis tea. I did not have a red teapot. When can a gal get too many tea pots. It is almost like Cathy has known me for years...
