They are very cute and perky. Years ago I worked in two different grooming shops and found them to be very popular in the area I lived os we groomed several at each shop. They do have grooming needs..and that can't be neglected for sure. I found them to be alot like poodles in personality and coat type.. a little more sturdy perhaps. I am more the hound dog sort of person..but they ARE cute for sure!!

My cousins had one years ago and it was very sweet, but not so smart. You could stand on one side of the swimming pool and call it (the dog standing on the other side) and instead of going around, it would walk right into the pool. Again, a very sweet animal :) !

my ma and dad were given one. She was very good, and on the plus side, she did not shed.

my husband's uncles family has one. It's really sweet, but it's rotten too. they like it because it doesnt shed and it's pretty much hypoallergenic.

I have a Dalmatian right now, but I have been reading up on them and if I ever find myself in the position to get another dog, it would be a Bichon. I have always had outside dogs, but would want any future dog to be an inside dog. They are sweet, friendly and seem to be perpetually happy dogs.

I used to dog sit for a family that had one of these

They require a bit of upkeep kind of like trimming a poodle every now and again.

For temperament they are so sweet, very loving and extremely loyal

Our Cottonball, a bichon frise, lived over 18 years. He was a bonafide member of our family, and the sweetest dog I have ever known. He lived to please, and was smart and easy to train. Since he had hair, and not a coat of fur, he rarely shed, so we did not have white hair everywhere on the furniture, etc., and the only thing we had to work on was keeping him bathed and brushed so his hair did not get matted. He was such a wonderful pet! So I think if you got one you would be happy.

I couldn't resist a quick comment - do remember that if you live in the country any long haired dog is probably going to bring quite a bit of the "country" indoors on his fur. Are you sure white is a practical color? Check into the costs of grooming before you fall in love, they are high maintenence for grooming. These are cute little "city" dogs and not well adapted to less than park like outdoor conditions or rough & tumble play with children or larger dogs. Best feature is that they don't shed much and are good if you have allergys. Whatever dog you choose, remember they will be a member of your family for many years and deserve your careful consideration when you pick one out. I work with purebred rescue and it is so sad to see the dear dogs who have been surrendered becouse the folks who purchased them didn't realize the needs of that particular breed.Best of luck in your search and hope you have many happy years with your new best friend!
