Does anyone know how to remove the dark stain on inside of pots from boiling potatoes or eggs? I have read something about vinegar or baking soda. Please share your wisdom. I have used brillo and still the stain remains.

Thanks.

Did you burn your potatoes dry like I did Friday night? Well, a tree did fall on my house..I have a good excuse!
I believe if you boil vinegar in the pot it is supposed to loosen it.I'll let you know after I try.

I didn't burn them, but I am going to try the vinegar. Thanks for responding.

Will it remove the discoloration of metal?

My wonderful deep and wide stock pot was too close to another burner being used and the heat made a "stain".

I know a trick that works for coffee pot stains might work for that, use table salt and ice and swirl it around or you can work it with your hands. Many, many, many years ago when I worked at a McDonalds that's what we would do when someone left a pot on the burner with a smidgin of coffee and it burned in the carafe. I don't remember there being any specific amounts, we just poured in the salt and a scoop of ice and then swirled it until it came off. That always worked like a charm. Hope it helps for potatoe stains, too.

Have a blessed day.

In His hands,
Lynda
