Hubby & I hauled rocks from the mountains yesterday to finish making the firepit in our backyard. I come up with these "great ideas" in my mind and Hubby is expected to help me.. Ha! And he does mostof the time.... This will be a focal point for our back patio. I posted a picture on my site. Any suggestions? we will get a grate for the top. Springtime will be trellised flowers & shrub planting and we may tear out some of the grass & put in large flat stones or smaller river rock, & bring out the patio furniture.

Enjoy that nice fire pit. I love making a fire in ours. I do quite often in the evenings, in the summer time. Of course I love to cook over it too.

Hi Cheryl, great looking firepit, you all will be enjoying that. I like your flower pots, it adds interest to your setting and color to when you have the flowers. You might add herbs in them so when your cooking in your firepit you can add a sprig or two to your meals, yum!!!.
We started out with stumps until we got chairs then use the stumps for coffee tables between the chairs, plus you always got more sitting room when you have lots of company. Something about a firepit, its just a great gathering place.
And something about rocks that you gather as well, you remember them, where you got them, who help with loading, what you use them for, they make history. I have forgotten some of little things that we have done on the homestead but I have not forgotten how we gathered our rocks, I'm glad my back did tho ;)
Have fun.

LOL My husband has always felt that he was the only one to have to help the wife with her dreams. Fire pit looks great, wish I could have one but we are renting right now.

The fire pit at my parents house has always been the focal point for our family in the summers. So much so that my neice insisted on getting married there, and it turned out lovely! |

Nice fire pit! It looks great. We have one at our house and we took a 55 gallon steel drum and cut it in half. Then we buried one half of it and stacked big white river rocks around ours. It's nice and serves it's purpose. The kids love sitting around it and whenever we have a party in the spring and fall, it always have a crowd gathered around it!
