We don't have a lot to spend for this Christmas but my five year old has been wanting a doll that looks real to life and I wonder if any of you have a daughter that has outgrown or found a doll at a garage sale that you would be willing to barter for or sell. She really wants and American Doll or Our Gerneration Battat doll. If you have anything similar let me know! Thanks!

I don't have one, but have you tried looking on your local craigslist.org page? I always see them on mine. I hope you find what you are looking for. :)

Just a warning about the Our Generation doll - the hair is horrid. If you know of a trick for de-mangling the hair I would love to know it. My girls received them for Christmas one year and were promptly disappointed. You can't brush and do the hair. It becomes mangled and matted. We've tried putting in conditioner to take out the snarles, but nothing has worked.

There aren't any local listings for Craigslist around here since we live in a small town and the nearest city is about an hour away. Thanks for the tip though!

Elizabeth, I have a life like baby doll who wears preemie clothes. She's in good shape and if this is what you are looking for send me your e-mail.

Does she want a baby type doll or the themed American Girl doll?

Well, she seems to want the girl like dolls like the American Girl or Our Generation. Country Lawyer (Rebekah) has an Our Generation Doll that we can hopefully trade for. But, she may enjoy a baby doll as well, especially if it looks real to life.
We are cutting way back this year on presents and trying to instill in the children the real meaning of Christmas but have decided on one special gift and a few small things. With the way the economy is I am trying to find out of the ordinary ways to get these gifts since money is tight. We have my three year old already bought for so that is a relief and my husband and I aren't buying each other anything (though I already have something stashed away for him that I had bought before we made that pact!). So Linda, I'll e-mail you about the baby doll to get more info on it. I think an Our Generation doll and baby doll is a good gift!
