do you use olde 'feather ticking' fabric or actual 'feathers' to stuff your pillows with?

i have a small collection of red and blues and browns .. i'm always looking for more to add to my collection.

if you have these fabrics .. what do you make with them?

Frannie ~ I tend to hoard my fabric! I love ticking, old and new, and right now, I have most it just piled up to look at. I've done a few pillows and used some to back a quilt. A friend of mine has her stacked to beautifully in an old white cupboard and it looks wonderful.

Hi Jillie-Bean!

I tend to hoard my fabric!

HA! don't we all! I had zillions of bags (the huge dark garbage bag size) of fabrics before we moved from Crooked Tree Hollow. I pared down to about a dozen bags .. and now have to go through and pull out the really 'good stuff' and re-wash and iron it.

I love ticking, old and new, and
right now, I have most it just piled
up to look at.

i swear .. i think i could do a full wall full of olde fabrics and be as charmed as any other decoration for the wall!

Oh .. turn my brown eyes green .. tell me what colors she has? Wish i had lots more of the olde 'browns'

I use new ticking,
I love feather pillows.

I think using new ticking might be an excellent idea if we're going to lay our little heads down on them and breathe in and out on them all night long. Do you just cover new feathertick pillows with the new ticking?

I wash and dry the old feather pillow in HOT water and dry for a LONG time in the dryer. Then I restuff the new pillow with the feathers from the old pillow, and recycle the old pillow fabric into new pillows or gifts.

I like the combination of vintage barkcloth and old ticking!!

I have used old feather pillow ticking along with other old fabrics to create clothing for some of the dolls I have created for various bazzars.
