I am sick of my house being too messy to let people come over. So I am on a major house cleaning rampage right now. Over the past 2 days I have gotten the dishes caught up, the kitchen counters cleaned and part of the dinning room cleaned and organized.Oh and the bathroom cleaned too! A lot of the time has been used up in handling laundry.

A mouse moved in while we were away for the weekend (insert icky dance here). So I am even more motivated to clean!! Check out the "Things Done Today" thread as I will try to post what I have done there through out the day...

Anyone else doing fall cleaning?

I hear ya Alee. I couldn't let people come over either but some out of town friends came in last weekend so DH and I spent 2 weeks getting things caught up. Every once in awhile that's what I need to do in order to get motivated enough to actually get some work done, invite someone over! So now, I've been real good about keeping it up.

We had mousies move in this summer. Everytime we went camping over the weekend we'd come home to find a new mouse. Aren't they lovely house guests? We just started leaving traps up.

Eeeeew! I sooooo hate mice! I'd be panicking if we got a mouse in the house. I've had to deal with them in the past and I just can't stand them. They are such disgustingly filthy creatures. As much as I dislike all the stray cats in town, they really do keep the mouse population down. Folks outside of town have a lot of problems with pack rats. Double eeeeeew!

My fall cleaning is far from done. I still have to give all my plants a shower as we get a lot of dust in the house in the summer, still have to get the plastic over the windows and get the heavy winter curtains up in the living room. I prefer lace, but the lace curtains get really nasty looking, really fast from the soot from the wood stove.

Lisa- yup! You should have heard me scream the other day when I saw it run across the floor. Not because I am scared but because I imagine all the places I don't want it to be and where it probably is. Ick.

Yesterday I didn't get as much done as I wanted because I got side tracked by making banana bread! LOL

With all this gorgeous weather here, I've been slow to get the inside of my house's fall cleaning done. I do plan to wash outside windows though tomorrow.

Washing the outside windows is so important before winter sets in. So much more sunshine comes in clean windows! I thought this was an old wives tale until I washed some windows in one of our apartments and the room was consistently about 10 degrees hotter in the winter (big Southern windows)

Thanks to the recent infestation of ladybugs, I'll start cleaing tomorrow when I;m off work. Already went through and have a huge bag of clothes for the thrift store.

Next will be a thorough sweeping even behind the couch and all things verticle that are butted up against the wall.

I may set traps beneath the house but am kind of reluctant since that's where a few resident black snakes hibernate.

Guess its time to put the summer clothes away too

It's really bad in the early evenings when the sun streams through windows and you can see all the dirt on the floor and dust floating through the air.

Those Swiffer thingys are great, both wet and dry versions.
