I was looking for a pattern to knit a prayer shawl for a friend who is battling breast cancer. I found this one on the internet and it is so easy. It works up a lot like the dishcloths that I knit. I'm using Lion's Brand Homespun in Deco (a cream color) and it's turning out so pretty. I'm not putting the fringe on mine.

Wow that pattern is so familiar to me. I remember knitting one like that for myself about 35 years ago. It is a nice simple pattern that drapes very nicely. I'm sure your friend will love it....

I made one of those! 2 years ago as a Prayer Shawl for my then secret pal on another board I was/am a member of.
She loves purple, so made a purple one for her, and she loved it. Also didn't put the fringe on.

I'm halfway done with this and I love it. It does drape nicely even still on the needles. Plus it's easy so I can watch TV while I knit. When I get this one done I'm going to make one for myself.

I do something similar: Knit 1, add a stitch, knit across.
But I use #19 straight needles and bulky yarn or 2- 3 strands of thinner yarn together and it goes really
fast ~ makes a nice thick warm shawl.

It is really pretty.
I made the same disgin a few year ago for shawls,
It turns out really cute
Those who recieved the shawls really liiked them.
I didn't put fringe on them eighter.
Just as pretty without. Sheila

I made the same design to go with my 1830's costume - it does go quick! I used two strands of worsted weight, also a cream color (to look like wool from the 1830's). No fringe either, but so soft and warm!

I'm almost done with the shawl and it is so pretty. I love the Homespun yarn. It's very soft. I think I'm going to have to do one for myself. I wouldn't do these to sell regularly but would do a custom order if someone wanted one. Soap is my thing so maybe there are some other gals that would sell them.
