Are you a WA or ID or OR farmgirl interested in raising sheep? Come to the Washington State Sheep Producers Annual Convention in Pullman, WA October 31 - November 1 for a great time and to learn all about the latest regarding sheep production and network with other producers. We are going to be visiting the WSU Meats Lab with a live animal evaluation followed by a carcass evaluation the next day with a talk from WSU Professor, Jan Busboom, on the nutritional value of lamb and see how the lambs pack-out into retail cuts. This is a "mini-course" of WSU's Lamb 300 course, no credit of course, but lots of information and learning. Sheep industry leaders from the national level to the state level will be talking about updates in the industry and animal-ag vets will be updating us on sheep health issues plus a whole lot more. The annual Make It With Wool competition will be held as well on Saturday night. If you've got an interest in sheep production and want to learn more, see the WSSP website. http://www.wssp.org for more information. Jami in WA

Just a friendly reminder and "bump" that the WSSP Annual Convention is this Friday and Saturday in Pullman at the Hilltop Inn in Pullman! We have a great program planned with the meats lab activities at WSU...lots of learning about producing a quality meat lamb for the consumer. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. both days in the lobby of the Hilltop. Prices are very reasonable ($45 per day including 2 American lamb meals) and we love to have new people, so if you're interested, come on down! Plus, I can meet you in person then! Saturday night is the State competition for the Make It With Wool program. We have 20 contestants from around the state in all categories (even one male contestant!) This starts right after the Saturday night banquet. Cost of the banquet and fashion show is $20.
