Here's what Wikipedia says Philanthropy is the act of donating money, goods, services, time and/or effort to support a socially beneficial cause, with a defined objective and with no financial or material reward to the donor. In a more general sense, philanthropy may encompass any altruistic activity intended to promote good or improve human quality of life.

I'm about to begin crocheting for the Knit One, Save One campaign. Anyone want to join in and see what a difference Farmgirls can make?

I will be crocheting or sewing for a different cause every quarter.

Here's the link for Knit One, Save One http://www.savethechildren.org/programs/health/child-survival/survive-to-5/knit-one-save-one.html

I would love to join in too! Do I send it to you, Theresa, and you send them to that wonderful organization? The reason for asking this is because as soon as I enter my postal code it doesn't work anymore because I HAVE to enter a USA state!

Can anyone help me with this?
I don't think a Dutch organization does this kind of work. (I will check on that too)

Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

So glad to have some companions in this endeavor! I thought it might be fun to keep a running tally of how many hats we've made. Maybe update it every Monday or something? Let me know what you think.

Theresa,
I went to the link this morning and signed up for this worthy cause. Even though alot is going on in my life right now with my husband's health needs, it's so important that we think of others and not just focus on ourselves. There's always someone out there that has a problem far greater than our own! Thanks for passing this along.

I am going to check it out this morning. I am a beginner crochet person so hopefully I can understand the patterns, my DS girlfriend said she would try and learn to crochet with me and make a hat too.

Bonnie,

I SO agree with you, doing for others is one of the best ways to "Plow Thru" and remember how blessed we are in life!

Lillian,

If you need any help at all please don't hesitate to ask. There are tons of patterns online and many are very simple. What a great way to jump in to crochet!

I am!!!!! I have 2 hats done- they seem so tiny! Are babies that small?? I guess it's been too long since a newborn was in my arms!
I'll post a picture of my hats on my blog.
Thanks for the opportunity!
