I canned up 12 pints of chunky applesauce with cinnamon tonight..and have a batch of apple butter cooking down in the crockpot. It will cook on low overnight and then longer if it needs it. yum!!!
Also have pumpkin cookies in the oven. I was shocked when I moved here to see that EVERYONE makes their pumpkin cookies with chocolate chips in them. ick. I make them with pecans or walnuts, and raisins would be okay I guess, but NOT chocolate chips in my opinion. I am glad my family shares my opinion on that. I am making a big old batch right now. I have been craving them all day. Sad that the first ones came out and I had to have one at 10pm though!!!
Let me tell you ..my house smells real real good tonight. Who needs scented candles!?

Sounds great, nothing like homemade applesauce and pumpkin cookies. Maybe you could send your pumpkin cookie recipe in for the second farmgirl cookbook. If there are pumpkins involved, they are bound to taste great... A friend is bringing me a five gallon bucket of pears from his tree sometime this weekend. I'm looking forward to making pear butter, always a treat...and I agree with you, no chocolate is definitely the way to go with those cookies.

I have been putting up a lot of apples! My mom and I made apple pie filling, apple jelly, it does look so pretty and clear, applesauce, and apple butter. We picked lots of free apples and went to work!

For turkey day I made a pumpkin spice cake with maple cream cheese frosting.. yep it went straight to my hiney!! :) I have a bag of persimmons for cookies over the weekend but, I do agreee with no chocolate chips in pumpkin cookies, I use raisins and pecans. Sounds so yummy it must be lunchtime!

Pumpkin cookies!? Oh dear! I think I need that recipe! That sounds amazing! And I quite agree, chocolate chips sounds terrible with a pumpkin anything! Pumpkin requires a more savory nut mixed in!!!
