I have never been on this site yet. Because I do not sew, I suppose. But I have a brand new sewing machine just sitting here ready to be used. And I will have to start soon.

I went to Ketner's Mill Country Fair in Sequatchie Co. Tn. today with my 2 daughters. Had the best time. I got fresh made right there sourghum syrup that is so good. Like honey good. I got the GDs some pretty little princess hair doodads. But my most favorite thing I found was an apron!! It is the cutest thing ever. Ya'll have probably seen these or made some yourselves. But this little old lady had a stack of them. She took old blue jeans, cut out the front, sewed the middle together, put frilly white border stuff (can't think of the word for that frilly stuff that you edge things with), anyway, sewed on hearts and other things on the front and it is so cute! Just $5.00 too. I love it. I have it on now!

If I can get my daughter to come out here and take a picture of it, I'll show ya'll.

Now I'll have to go to a thrift store and find old jeans and make some for Christmas.

I make the same kind of aprons, except I use the butt. If the front has unusual stitching or pretty rivets or something, I will use it then. I sell mine for $10, though. I was planning to set up another website this winter just for them rather than just leaving them in their box until the next art/craft festival next year.

A friend of mine in town here uses the legs to make denim quilts and I give those to her and when she gets jeans, she gives me the butts. That way, the whole thing gets re-purposed.

Lisa, maybe you could put a picture of yours on here. I don't think I'm able to yet.

Thanks, Kris

Ladies, please post your pics. Also, I would love the directions to make some up for Christmas gift giving this year. I have tons of jeans I have been saving and not just the blue denim. Thank you so much. :)

here is a tutorial I found a while about, using the legs of jeans to make an apron

http://mybyrdhouse.blogspot.com/2008/04/jeans-half-apron-tutorial.html

Not exactly what you're talking about, but still cute!

Kay, that's close to what I make. Mine are slightly different and I'll take some pictures today (hopefully) and put a few on my blog as a preview of what's to come. Sound good? Anyway, I don't have a pattern and even surprised myself that I could make this without any direction (I'm a self-taught beginning sewer). So, if I can do it, I think anybody can.

How do you have the material from one leg encircle the largest part of our bodies...hips, etc.? I would need 2 legs but good thing most pants have a pair of 'em, huh?

I just posted a few of mine on my blog. Maybe it'll give you all some ideas! I don't know if it's necessary, but I do a serging kind of stitch around the cut off part of the denim before I sew on any fabric or lace.

Hey LisaMarie,
I wasn't sure what to do with the "denim butt" as you so cutely called them...but now I have you to thank and I love the wide trim!
I made a denim apron the other night using the legs. check out my blog.
Thanx again for ther clever idea for the other 'end".

Grace, that apron is just adorable! Now you can get more out of a pair of jeans.

I SAW SOME IN A HOBBY SHOP A WHILE BACK, AND IT IS VERY COOL. ALSO, YOU COULD USE THE BACK OF THE JEANS FOR THE SAME, OR MAKE A UTILITY APRON FOR THE GUYS/KIDS ETC.

JUST WENT OUT TO A THRIFT SHOP TO GET JEANS TO START THE PROJECT.

I just made one using the front and the back, for a gardening apron. It was fun and easy!

Merry, that looks more like what I have. But she put appliqued hearts all over and it's a little bigger. No lace on the pockets, either. But really close. I love mine.
